Hi to everyone from Yamaha,
the positive thing on the Montage is, that blind and partial sighted user can use the Cursor Buttons to scroll through the displays.
There are also a lot of cominations of key strokes we can use.
But if we come deeper and deeper it will be difficult for us to know all functions and so forth.
As a blind user I work for mor than 20 years with Yamaha synths and the structure are easy to learn. But now with this new beast or "soundmonster" it will be more difficult.
Here ar some ideas for the future:
- make the iOS apps workable with VoiceOver the special ScreenReading technology from Apple. Every iOS engine has this for blind and partial sighted users installed. The programers can find dokumentations on the Apple-site to get all information they need to make the apps workable for us too.
- A good idea for the VST is to program the normal thing for sighted users and a switch to change in a mode there the parameters are listed in a list. And we can jump through like the TAB or SHIFT+tAB thing. John Melas does this for the Motif Tools. And it works fine. He does a lot of things for us. So we can completely use his editors well.
- For the Montage himself it will be great to have the chance to plug-in an PC-keyboard.
One more thing will be interested for a lot of blind and partial sighted users:
Why is it to difficult to make an own ScreenReader for the hardware? And a good way will be to talk together with the other manufacturers like Roland, Korg and so forth.
I know that the OS on the most instruments based on linux thing. And here is the chance to come in. Because Linux can be used as blind and partial sighted users in diffrent distributions.
Aplle shows how it is functional for all.
Please think about the users they are blind and partial sighted.
I talked to a lot of users they have the same problems I have. And I talk not from 5 or 10 users. No there are thousands of blind and partial sighted users in the world.
Now, I hope You help us alittle bit more than the last years.
All the best.
Rainer
