So I've been looking at the reface synths for a while now and I'm very impressed by them, however I'm at a crossroads because I'm not sure which one would suit me best. I'm an avid talkbox user and have been thinking of getting a DX100 for a while (currently just using a DS55) but I'm not sure if the reface DX is a good option. The CS looks like it could make some very impressive leads similar to a minimoog, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried either of the synths with a talkbox and what you've thought of them personally. Thanks!

Does the source synth make much difference in the Talkbox thing or don't you just need a Sustain sound?
The reface DX is a 21st century update of the DX100 that includes digital effects, looper and other useful features.

Yeah, the source synth is what really matters. Most people say the DX100 is the best talkbox synth because of the sawtooths you can get, but I'm kind of looking for something different other than the standard sound everyone uses. I've been looking around on Reddit a bit and I'm thinking of going with a CS, just because of the leads you can get with it. I've tried all the built in sounds on the Reface DX, and none of them really stuck out as being a great sound for a talkbox. But then again there's probably plenty of sounds on the Soundmondo app that would work.

Sawtooths because sawtooth waves include all harmonics (whole integer multiples of the fundamental). Where Pulse waves include only odd numbered harmonics. Both are capable of Sawtooth Waveforms.

DX, no brainer.. it is THE talkbox sound, I mean the Moog does it too but the unique sharp timbres you get with FM are what works particularly well with the talkbox.

Ofcourse you need to program the sound but it's very basic the sound required.

That's my 2 cents, I have a talkbox but haven't used it with the DX yet but have used it with FM(FM7) VST's and other VA's in the past. FM!
