Hi, besides the Montage I also have a little Microkorg that I have not used for a while because busy learning Montage. Today I tried to sync this one with Cubase thru my PC soundcard. Needless to say absolutely no luck. I just donΒ΄t know how to to these things. ItΒ΄s really such a simplistic synth with just one midi channel, and very few settings but I cannot get it to work. The Montage being effectively set up to sync with Cubase, I wonder if I can attach the Microkorg to the Montage and that would sync this one too. Is that a possibility and if yes, how to hook it up?

IΒ΄m guessing korg midi in to montag midi thru so the cubase clock goes thru to the Korg?
do I also need to hook up korg midi out to montage midi in?

You will still need to learn how to set the Korg to accept MIDI Sync. (sorry, I can't help you with that part of it).

The Montage can be setup via USB and act as both the MIDI and audio interface for the external synth. It will automatically pass clock through to the Korg.

Connect the Montage to your computer via USB using the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver.
Connect the MIDI Out of the Montage to the MIDI In of the Korg,
Connect the MIDI Out of the Korg to the MIDI In of the Montage (I am assuming it has standard 5-pin MIDI I/O)

Cubase will address the Montage on Montage MIDI Port 1
Cubase will address the Korg on Montage MIDI Port 3

You can connect the audio output of the Korg to the A/D Input of the Montage. It now can be used as a Modulation source (if you wish) or it can be routed to its own discreet outputs (both analog and/or via USB to be recorded) You can apply Effects and treat it as any internal Part.

Cubase will be set to be the Master clock Source, and both keyboards should be independently set to MIDI SYNC = MIDI.
Set Cubase to Send clock to both Montage Port 1 and Port 3
Go to TRANSPORT > PROJECT SYNCHRONIZATION SETUP > MIDI CLOCK DESTINATIONS > mark both Montage Port 1 and Port 3.

Hi Bad Mister, yes, thatΒ΄s pretty amazing! (had to activate montage 3 in the devices thow)

in the meantime I also managed to sync it directly with Cubase πŸ™‚

now, when itΒ΄s hooked up to the Montage, can I also record itΒ΄s midi or just the audio?

Both, the Montage is now a MIDI and audio interface for both keyboards.

Hi Bad Mister, I set the track for the other keyboard to montage 3 but it does not record any midi. I can only record midi from the Montage. How do I set this up to record midi from the other keyboard too?

You must make Montage Port 3 available as a MIDI INPUT.
Go to DEVICES > DEVICE SETUP > MIDI > MIDI PORT SETUP > in the column marked "In All MIDI Inputs" make sure both Montage Port 1 and Montage Port 3 are marked.

Make sure your Montage is set to MIDI I/O = USB
Make sure your Korg is set to output MIDI

I got it, only works when the channel midi input is set to montage 3, and not to all inputs. I wonder why thow...
