Is anyone even looking into persistent login as requested months ago?

I'm sure it is being looked into, as there have been significant changes since the time of the original thread. Without information about your particular browser, and if you are on a computer, a tablet, or smart phone, can help. If you are still experiencing issues that information will help the trouble shooters. Different browsers, different devices behave differently... This is not my area, but even though I can only personally log in on but a few of the possible browser/device combinations, I can tell it's no easy thing to troubleshoot. One fix does not work for all devices.

As to persistent log in, specifically - it may depend on the browser or type of device as to whether you get logged out after a time of no activity. If you are getting booted out in the middle of viewing/posting, that we definitely need to hear about. That's been fixed, afaik.

So if you are not seeing any improvement since the last communication, please provide us some specifics. Thanks, it will help.

The specifics are these:

1. Every time I come to the site I have to log in again.

2. No matter where I am in the site when I log in, I am returned to the home screen instead of returning to whatever page I was on.

This is not earth shattering but since all the other forums I frequent remember my login, it is a minor annoyance...the login process runs me through a total of three popup windows.

It is the same behavior with both Safari 5.1.10 and Firefox 35.0.

Thank you for the details, I'm sure they will help those tasked with fixing such things.

As to point 1, we maybe at the mercy of the corporate Log In Yamaha My Account) rules. Is that what you are using to log in, or are you using one of the other social media options?

As to point 2, Chrome allows you to log in and remain on the screen you are looking at. Other browsers behave differently; I find the same as you on Safari. Your experience will be passed to those who can (perhaps) do something about it.

Thanks again.

It doesn't remember my login either: Windows 7 x64, IE 11.0.15.

Remembering a login is not rocket science…

Thanks for the reply Phil.

If it works only on Chrome, that's not very good. Whoever is responsible for this site please verify at least against IE and Safari since those are the browsers installed in the computers by default. Moving to Chrome just to use this site isn't practical.

I am starting to wonder whether this site has been optimized for phones and tablets at the expense of computer users.

Apologies, we got "NAMMed" and are only recovering from the experience now.

Yes, we're looking into this. Unfortunately, it's a very complex issue so the solution behind the scenes isn't as simple as it might seem.

Just so you know, this affects all of the admins and moderators as well both in terms of visiting the forum and creating content; misery truly loves company.

In any event, thanks for your patience and feedback and our apologies for leaving your inquiry unanswered.

Just an FYI, we were able to fix point #2. I just tried it and it worked for me.

Still working on #1. Thanks again for your patience.
