The MODX M comes with a license for Cubase. You can use this to combine the MIDI files so each file maps to its own MIDI track. Then save a new combined MIDI file that has each instrument in a different MIDI channel.

When you load this combined MIDI file it will be loaded to a scene and each track will already map to a single Part/instrument.

Or you could load multiple individual MIDI files using the pattern sequencer and shuffle around tracks using the copy feature. This would be more cumbersome but would get you there.

Set up the performance and go to the pattern menu and select 'Edit Job' and you will see the screen on p.111

Just use that 'Load .mid File' button, select the file and scene number.

TIP #1 - this is the time to play around with this screen and try different things so you get familiar with what pops up when you press different buttons.

TIP #2 - see that 'Save As .mid File' button? You can probably guess what it does.

TIP #3 - start simple when you are learning a new feature. Just load 2 midi files to begin with. No point loading 7 or 8 and messing it up. Start with just 2 and then play the pattern and see how it works.

I have a song that is separated into one midi file per instrument/channel. For example, ch1.mid is piano, ch2.mid is strings, ch3.mid is flute etc. is it possible to load each midi file onto separate tracks of a pattern so they can be played back together? If not, what can I do? I am using a MODX M7. Any advice appreciated.
