I’m wondering if anyone has thought about relocating the power supply into the body of the keyboard and adding an IEC Jack . I have not looked, but I would imagine there should be room inside the MODX M8.

In my experience, the wires of these external power supplies are very delicate and no matter how careful you are with them after extended use those tiny wires break down. And of course, I realize i can carry an extra power supply with me, which I have always done in the past. But an IEC cord would be so much better.

The trick would be cutting in the IEC port.  I might look into building an internal power supply and leaving a stubby female IEC as a round hole is much easier to drill.

One of the nice upgrades to the MODX M is that they have changed from the traditional wall wart to the "lump in the middle" style, mated to a figure-8.  My inclination would be to see if I could find a way to safely leave the plug connected to the board and velcro the box to the to the keyboard, and then you'd only be routinely plugging/unplugging the figure-8. (You'd also have to make sure your case allows for it.)

For what it's worth, there is plenty of room inside the M7 and M8 to house the power brick, then you'd just need to cut a hole for an IEC C14/C8 socket and wire it to a C7 connector inside to connect to the power brick, then route the power from there to the internal main board.

Not a job I would recommend to any amateur, but not a big deal for a professional.

You could do this.  I've got a MO6 and the main board failed well before the power supply - wires and all.  That said, go for it if you have the parts, tools, expertise, and are OK with voiding warranty.
