That video is a good example of how you always manage to quickly cover ALL of the salient points about a topic. Should help a lot of people.

Don't know why but, for some reason, many people have never noticed that 'Mode: Default 1 Perf' selection at the bottom of the load screen for library and user files.

But it has been there since the initial OS 1.20 release on the Montage M8X so I assume for M6/M7 also.

IdeaScale suggestion added to allow multiple perfs to be loaded.

https://yamahasynth.ideascale.com/c/yamahasynth/idea/191895

One of us submitted a new IdeaScale suggestion to allow the user to select multiple performances for loading from a library or user file.

This would be similar to how the 'Import Library' functionality allows the user to choose multiple performances to import.

Hello, I have some old piano libraries, for example FREE Bösendorfer 290 Imperial Library, as well as some others. Since M has samples available, is there a way to load the performances without samples, but with all the other options to save disk space. In the old MOTIF/MOXF there was such an option. Thanks for the answer and I apologize if the topic has been covered before.

No - an import is an 'all or nothing' choice.

Since M has samples available, is there a way to load the performances without samples, but with all the other options to save disk space.

Can you explain your thinking on that?

If an imported performance uses a preset waveform (samples) then that performance won't import any samples.

And if an imported performance uses a custom waveform then it would be broken if the custom waveform wasn't imported.

So, in that sense, you would be saving space at the expense of having a broken performance.

Hi, as Toby explain, if you have a way to load the Bösendorfer 290 Imperial performances without it's waveforms (i do not know how) you need to remade the "mapping" of all Elements one by one, it will take a long time to do this.

If you want to save anything in a library without samples you would [STORE] it which places only the parameters in the User bank.  Saving the user bank would not have these samples.   Using these would require the Library is installed in the same slot as when you [STORE]'d the Performance.   Not the same as with(out) samples but assuming you plan ahead it's the same thing after going one by one and storing all of those Performances.

There's no direct equivalent to this Motif feature.  Only simulated compromised half similar operations.

Well see Jason

Be brave to remap all the waveforms in case you want to go in that way.

Actually Yamaha remaps the waveforms for you!

The bad news is that it remaps them all to waveform #1.

All elements MUST have a waveform so when the one from the library is no longer available Yamaha just throws in good old #1 to take its place.

That is why you may not even realize the performance is 'broken' because the part/element that uses that new #1 waveform may not get used for some time. And when it does get used you may not even notice  the change in sound.

And if you do notice the change in sound you may not know where to look to figure out what happened.

Makes us think it would almost be better to flag the performance/part as 'broken' and 'needs fixed' so users would know they need to do something about it.
