Looking forward to your book!

Yamaha would really benefit from a book (PDF) that explains all of the ins and outs of every Performance.

We'd be happy to proof read your first chapter - just let us know. You've got plenty of material from your many previous posts. Why let that all go to waste?

Bass Synth (part 2) has CC turned OFF. Parts won't receive or act on any CC (e.g. expression/volume) if the CC switch is off.

Edit part 2 and look at the Mod / Control -> Tx/Rx screen.

Notice CC is OFF. Set it to ON and notice slider 2 now works. Turn it OFF and notice the slider no longer works.

The M models are BEASTS - and, especially for new users, have a steep learning curve. So don't beat yourself up that you couldn't figure this one out. There is nothing in the docs that will really help you.

P. 230 of the Modx M operation doc describes the Tx/Rx Switch screen and all of the switches on it. Turn the CC switch on and go over the list of switches. If ANY of those switches are OFF that particular CC message won't be received by that part.

You can imagine how difficult it can be to learn what each performance is programmed to do with so many switches that can affect things. Each part has its own set of switches and they will only affect things when 'something' is trying to send that particular CC message to that specific part.

And that 'send' may only happen in special circumstances. So you can go for months without it ever happening.

You got LUCKY because slider 2 gave you visual info that something you didn't expect was going on.

Please take special note that until you gave us a SPECIFIC example there was no way for us to 'guess' what your particular issue was.

Not picking on you. But you will get the best, and fastest, help in the future when you can provide a specific example with enough info for us to try to reproduce the issue.

You will appreciate the power and flexibility of the M models as you get more and more familiar with how things are structured.

IMPORTANT - that 'Coastal' performance, and your issue, is an EXCELLENT example of why many, if not most, of the performances are NOT necessarily ready for 'prime time' use in a gig. They usually have a LOT of programming in them meant to demonstrate various functionality.

Notice there are FIVE scene buttons lit up. That means that each scene is likely programmed differently. What does each scene do? How is scene 2 different from scene 3 or other scenes? You will need to examine each of them to learn why they are there and whether you want to use them and/or modify them.

Good luck!

Vol/Exp is part of the "all".  So this is one of the two ways detailed (receive disabling sliders).

One problem with any complex system is the learning curve in order to effectively use it.   There are members here (and elsewhere) available to help.
