Hi,

Will I be able to create libraries in my Montage ESP as a .y2L and load them into a MODX M8 as a stopgap until the MODX M8 esp is available? This will affect my timing to purchase the MODX M8.

Thanks,

ESP saves as:

Library file (.Y2L), User file (.Y2U), Backup file (.Y2A)

MODX M8 loads files as:

.Y2L, .Y2U, .Y2A

... so, I do don't see any need necessarily for a MODXM specific version.   Seems like Montage M and MODXM this generation share the same file format.

If you're using the Montage version of ESP to create sounds for your MODX M, I guess you'd just need to be sure that you don't employ any Montage functionality that is beyond what the MODX M can handle (e.g. route sounds to non-existent outputs, employ effects on more than 12 parts, possible differences in how they handle knob assignments). Presumably the forthcoming MODX M version eliminates this issue, and might otherwise better mimic the MODX M's physical workflow. (Or possibly January's release will be a single ESP update, which will be universal, with a setting for Montage or MODX integration.)
