Store the performance - Load a performance

You posted in the Montage and Montage M forum - what model instrument are you using? There are differences between models and in the docs for those models. It will be easier to point you to relevant info for your model if we know what you are using.

On older Yamaha arrangers, in 90s, there was a possibility to save all the settings at one (I believe it was called "pages" of memory, used to instant changing all parameters at ones to a new performance for example). Then, with one key I was able to change entire "page" of memory to instantly obtain a completely new setup to use / play with.

For Modx, Modx+, Montage and Montage M models a performance represents that 'memory'.

You use the 'Store' button to save the current performance you are working on and use 'Category Search' to find the next performance you want to load.

Most of the basic info applies to the Modx/Modx+ and Montage M models but the specifics may be different.

1) How to do it on the Montage? How to save quickly all the parameters at once (like a snapshot of memory)?

Use the 'Store' button on the front panel of the instrument. That will save the current performance you have been editing. Give your performances unique names that are different from the names of preset performances. Be careful to use UNIQUE names because Yamaha allows you to create multiple performances with the same name and it will be hard to tell them apart later.

2) How to load it later on, to quickly get to work from before?

Use the 'Category Search' button on the front panel to search for and load a performance. Set the 'bank' to 'User' to list only your own performances or to 'Preset' to list performances that came with the instrument.

Sounds and DPS are great but proper work with MIDI is a pain in the...... @*(^$(&_^#

Congrats on getting your initial issue taken care of.

A Montage performance can have up to 16 parts. But only the first 8 can have keyboard control set to ON so you can play them simultaneously. Parts 9-16 are for external controllers to play or for you to play by selecting one of those parts and playing it.

Each part, by default, is assigned to its own channel with the same number as the part number.

First make sure you are using the latest OS version and Steinberg driver. If you purchased a used instrument it may be using an older version. All of the docs and updates are available here:

Can you try explaining that a little differently? It isn't clear what you are trying to do and/or if you need help doing it?

Create a new thread with a title that tells people what you need help with. It is easier to help you if you provide a step-by-step example that people can use to try to reproduce the problem.

If you want to "force" 9-16 to be used then you'd plug a MIDI cable between MIDI IN and MIDI OUT, have the keyboard in MIDI mode (not USB), and setup Part Zones on Parts 1-8 so the output channels for each part are 9-16 respectively.  Now Parts 9-16 will receive MIDI from Parts 1-8 so you can place Parts in 9-16 and have them play.

It's not a supported or officially recommended configuration.  There are some gotchas with this.   But ... it does work as a parlor trick and you may get something out of it.
