was trying to determine whether the Yamaha Montage M8X would fit a Zaor studio desk with a keyboard shelf, and couldn't find the dimensions or locations of the rubber feet anywhere. I measured them at my local Long & McQuade, so I thought I'd post the results here in case they're useful to someone else.

Yamaha Montage M8X

  • Overall dimensions: 1453 mm (W) × 470 mm (D)
  • Rubber feet: Round, 30 mm diameter
  • Distance from the front edge of the keyboard to the front edge of the front feet: 50 mm
  • Distance from the rear edge of the keyboard to the rear edge of the rear feet: 75 mm

Including the link to the diagram that illustrates the measurements:

I hope this helps anyone trying to determine compatibility with a studio workstation or custom keyboard shelf.

Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for taking the time to do the measurements and provide them.

Another option is to just remove the rubber feet and place a soft foam mat, cut to size, to place the keyboard. The reason for the foam is that there are two metal fasteners that stick out of the bottom about 1/8" that can keep the 'without feet' keyboard from resting flat.

So the foam should be thick enough to allow those fasteners to sink into but not so thick as to give a spongy feel.

You could also make a plywood/other platform to fit the workstation shelf but extend beyond the front edge far enough to support the front rubber feet of the keyboard.

Whatever solution you use should be done well since both keyboard and desk are fairly expensive.

Thanks for the suggestions.

My main concern was whether the keyboard would be fully supported on the Zaor Miza Z Flex keyboard shelf, which has a depth of 410 mm.

After measuring the Montage M8X, I found that all four rubber feet sit within the first 395 mm of the keyboard's depth. That means the Z Flex shelf fully supports all four feet, with about 15 mm of shelf extending beyond the rear feet. The remaining 60 mm is simply the rear overhang of the chassis.

So in this particular case, it appears that no modifications or removal of the feet are necessary.

Understood - some users remove one foot and then screw in a Kensington Lock adapter into that location. That gives them an eyelet to use a locking cable to secure the keyboard to a stand/other.
