Granted I've only looked at limited information but what I did see wasn't anything new.  It's not generally on the "new stuff" cadence for Yamaha synths.   Some other players had some interesting things although I'm more interested in trends like open source fueling better collaborative projects.   Eventually, just like social media democratized fame (and news and ...), I think that individuals and collectives will democratize hardware and software to start eating into market share.  The stuff the small frys start producing will become increasingly compelling and the barriers to produce your own gear will get lower enabling first those with expertise to make one off keyboards for themselves and then eventually the tech to roll your boards or have an inexpensive manufacturing supply chain with easy-to-use software will make it more of a for-the-masses enabler.

We see lots of kingdoms trying to hold on to the last years of exclusivity before something else takes over.

'limited information' seemed to be the definitive statement of the show for many of the vendors. Even in the pc area it seems there isn't much new on the horizon as far as electronics goes.

One example I was alluding to is that there's a product that's a MIDI gizmo that looks like a car key FOB but has MIDI DIN cables (in and out) dangling from it.  The code and hardware design is open source.  You can buy the recipe then build one on your own and tweak the code as you please or rely on other community members to extend what this thing can do.

As this model takes off and the surrounding ecosystem builds around the "little guy/gal" - I think we're going to be slightly less reliant on the bigger manufacturers to supply music hardware including synths.

Tolerances on 3D printing or other advances in the ability to more cheaply produce low volume mechanicals may eventually realize something usable as a keybed or maybe smaller players will decide to tool a solution for higher volumes unless the bigger players decide to sell their components (like keybeds) as sub assemblies for more public use since they already have a jump.

There was new stuff shown at Superbooth - just not from Yamaha as far as I could tell.  They (Yamaha) were touting the newer 3rd party software collab - which I'm happy to see Yamaha platforming smaller players as they have a tradition of doing.  And the big one-off MIDI controller which puts knobs and sliders and things on each of the Montage engines seen in a previous show.

Again, I only looked at one dude's YouTube video of Superbooth so my research/sample size/what have you is limited.  But given this individual's previous Yamaha centric videos - I would think anything new from Yamaha would have been covered.   Other than what I previously covered the only other factoid about Yamaha's presence at Superbooth covered in the video I watched was that Yamaha's area there was big.  So, relative to other vendors, more square feet.

These kind of things go both ways.  It's good for Yamaha to participate to also learn what the industry is doing by mingling around with other vendors (and public).   I mean this in a positive way.  Even if they don't have anything new - they hopefully pick up some new idea or direction or get valuable feedback from going.

More stuff is trickling out to YouTube and Yamaha's official coverage seems to focus on Montage's 10th anniversary (with some history from Easysounds as well as demos using the newer M series.   And a general theme of "my favorite things about Montage M or MODX M are ..." ).  Seqtrak has its time in the spotlight as well as some YC and reface stuff.  I see the CK laying around although I'm not sure it received much love in YouTube content direct from Yamaha.

There's no 10th anniversary white version yet.   Maybe too soon to fire up the paint guns and/or work out some kind of content bundle like the KD stuff plus Melas plus this and that sound pack plus a pedal or two.  Last white version didn't have a big bundle but the last 40th anniversary for Motif white version had the memory card bundle (which isn't a thing now).  Maybe 10 years of the series isn't enough to go big bundle.

Either way, we all know from past experience that a white version is sometime around the corner.

I don't know if Superbooth showed ESP in any significant way.  There didn't seem to be a video for that.  They were showing how Seqtrack could augment a YC as a tone generator.  ESP is a more powerful version of this - although a lot more expensive - if you already have an M series then it comes along with the ride and gives you an external tone generator.  BYOC (bring your own computer).
