Hi everyone, I could use some help from someone with the full John Melas suite or a physical Montage removed link

I'm trying to load an .X8L library into the Montage M ESP plugin on my Mac, but it keeps throwing the "Storage read/write error." I’ve already ruled out Mac permissions/sandboxing (moved it to the Shared folder) and the brute-force rename trick didn't work.

I opened the file in the Melas Waveform Editor demo, so I know the file is 100% healthy and not corrupted, I just can't save it because of the demo restrictions.

Would someone mind taking my .X8L files and doing a quick "Save As" to an .X7L file so the ESP plugin will accept it? Let me know and I can send you a link to the file. Thanks in advance!

Here's the link removed link

Welcome to the forums!

If you have the ESP plugin you should already have a Montage M or Modx M.

One option is to load the library onto your Montage M or Modx M.

Another option is to find, and fix, the permissions issue. If you know the file itself is ok then your issue is permissions.

I opened the file in the Melas Waveform Editor demo, so I know the file is 100% healthy and not corrupted, I just can't save it because of the demo restrictions.

There are no restrictions if you load the library file onto your M model.

Would someone mind taking my .X8L files and doing a quick "Save As" to an .X7L file so the ESP plugin will accept it? Let me know and I can send you a link to the file. Thanks in advance!

Not sure why you want an X7L file when you are using a Montage M or Modx M model.

Yes, use your own physical Montage M to load the file then save it as a Y2L file.  The native format the hardware saves libraries as.

You shouldn't have to do this.  From the ESP manual for Montage shows the following files can be loaded into ESP:

Load/Save button

Load

The Load screen appears.

The following files can be loaded into the ESP from the computer or a USB flash

drive.

• Library file (.Y2L)

• User file (.Y2U)

• Backup file (.Y2A)

• File formats used for older models

- MONTAGE (.X7A, .X7U, .X7L)

- MODX, MODX+ (.X8A, .X8U, .X8L)

- MOTIF XF (.X3A, .X3V, .X3G, .X3W)

- MOTIF XS (.X0A, .X0V, .X0G, .X0W)

- MOXF (.X6A, .X6V, .X6G, .X6W)

... So X8L is already a supported file type.

The JM tools third party tools may be more tolerant of faults than Yamaha's first party tools.

If the keyboard itself can't load this library file then there's likely something wrong with the file.  If it loads on the keyboard then work with Yamaha to hunt down why your file works loading into Montage M but not ESP.  I'm sure (only if this is indeed the case) they would be interested in investigating.
