Hi, Josh! Congratulations on having just got a MOXF8. We are not exactly sure what it is you are doing but can take a guess that you are attempting to combine individual VOICES into a PERFORMANCE.

We can highly recommend the step-by-step guide that starts on page 31 of the Owner's Manual. And while I don't want to just pawn you off to reading the manual, it will at least start to get you familiar with the MOXF terminology... Voice, Part, Performance, etc.

The PERFORMANCE CREATOR does allow for quick Layering via the [LAYER] button, quick Splitting via the [SPLIT] button... We assume, from the wording of your post, you have gotten this far.

Adding a third or fourth Part to a Performance can be done easily from the main PERFORMANCE mode screen
Press [PERFORM]
Press [F2] VOICE

On this screen you can activate a PART by placing a mark in the box on the corresponding Part line. Use the cursor arrows to navigate, and the [INC] button or the DATA DIAL to activate the Part. You can additionally - set the NOTE LIMIT LOW and NOTE LIMIT HIGH on this screen by using the [SF4] and [SF5] buttons while touching the keys.

Initially, the PRESET 1, 001 (A01) will be assigned, you can change it to any program you desire.
The Performance Creator is designed for "quick" splits, layers and adding a Drum kit.

The alternate method to building a PERFORMANCE begins by initializing a Performance location and building it "from scratch".
From Performance mode
Press [JOB]
Press [F1] INIT
Press [ENTER] to execute
Press [EDIT]
Press number [1] to see Part 1 parameters
[F1] VOICE - here you can select a Voice for the Part
Etc.
