Is there a way to enter a number (eg, beats per measure, what measure to jump to, etc) without using the wheel?

On board the MOXF, no. Other than the INC/DEC buttons.
Of course if you are connected to a computer use the "Yamaha MOXF6/MOXF8 Editor Standalone/VST"
