So Far Montage is a Synth Monster but I can't find any impressive Guitar Lead like Scorpion Band or the Eagle Band or Santana... So How To Make A Best Guitar Lead For Montage?
Please be kind to show me step by step , especially how to insert the FX to make it sounds good.

Thank you

I'm shocked to hear this question but I also haven't gotten into the guitars much yet. Did the Motif XF not have adequate guitars already which are also inside the Montage? Plus they meticulously sampled that vintage $50K guitar I saw in the presentations back before Montage was released. Forget the one but it's in there somewhere.

Those waveforms might be a part of the Tex Boogie. You could build your own guitar performance using those waveforms.

See here about that guitar sample:

Here are some pretty good sounding guitars that were made for the Motif XF by Sweetwater - not sure how you would get them though...

Starting at 3:48:

That is probably the best demo of the Montage I have seen.

I think this topic hasn't been covered yet because Yamaha's guitars on the Motif, MO and now Montage have always been a strength. There are lots of familiar performances in here for those who have used previous generation Yamaha guitars. Unlike something like Pedal Steel which only has one preset - there's tons of presets in the acoustic, clean electric, and distorted categories for lots of "bread and butter" choices.

As far as the Sweetwater additions for Motif XF - there are lots of close "duplicates" to what's in Montage. I didn't go through the whole thing - so far I found the first Jazz Guitar he played had some nice features not found in the stock presets - but could probably be user-performance modified using some different waveforms at high velocity.

3:30 acoustic guitar
Montage: Fingered Steel

3:48 processed acoustic
Montage: American Steel Duo
(Turn Superknob full clockwise) or can mute PART 1 -OR- PART 2. Sounds closer with PART 1 muted.

4:03 clean electric
Montage: Clean Ballad Pick

4:11 Electric Lead (w/overdrive)
Montage: Hard Ramp

4:20 Jazz Archtop
Montage: Jazz Guitar
(Or a few more) I like the tonal contrast in the sweetwater jazz guitar - from a very "roll back the treble" type sound to a brighter tone when you "dig in". This is not available in the presets I see - but could be duplicated with some work.

4:37 Another clean electric
... take your pick

4:46 Muted guitar
Montage: Texas Chicken Pick (similar)

4:53 Another Jazz Guitar
Montage: Arched Top

... and so on - just listen and pick the category according to the guitar (Guitar main category - then acoustic or clean electric or distorted and so on - and scroll through the list.) It doesn't take much to find something close.

"Latin Lover" is the Santana type performance. Roll back that echo. Use superknob counterclockwise.

None of this is rocket science. You have a superknob to change the sound. If the AF1 or AF2 buttons are lit, you can check out what those do. Mod for guitar is usally for an auto vibrato. Then there are all of the individual knobs to check out - but you hardly have to deal with those to get something going.

So step by step would be:

1) [CATEGORY SEARCH]
2) Select "Guitar" category on touchscreen
3) Select "Distortion" sub category on touchscreen (sounds like this is the original request)
4) Ignoring the mega performances, go through about 48 performances and pick out the ones you like. Use the arrow right (-> ) button under the DATA WHEEL to advance to the next performance.
5) Be sure to move superknob as this will tend to help dial down some "excessive effect" issues with some of the preset guitar starting points. Or add more effect if you're into that. A sound like "Comp Hero" sounds neat dialed up. There's lots of range to that performance. Some performances have "MW" in the name - so move the modwheel around. Some have AF1 and/or AF2 - these are [ASSIGN 1] and [ASSIGN 2] buttons just to the right of the modwheel. Push those to see what they do.

I can't tell you how to make the best guitar other than telling you to go through the guitars yourself. It's like some random guitar player asking me what guitar, amp, and effects pedals he should buy and how to hook that up. I have no idea what such a random individual's concept of a good guitar sound is. I mean, check out Vernon Reid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtHd2v9YiEA and all the tonal variety he's got going on with "a million" pedals and multiple amp combinations.

That's one side - then there's the simple - Fender Twin Reverb and plug straight-in approach. Maybe a tube screamer for gain/boost.

You're going to have to go to the virtual music store and pick out the guitar, amp, and effects that appeal to you by first calling up presets. While at your chair with the virtual guitar in your lap and amp in front of you - turn some knobs to see what you get. Then maybe ask the sales guy to go to the back and pull out some different effects or amps (in other words, change settings "deep dive" if you will). The presets cover such wide ground - you may not need to do this for guitars.

Get the Motif XF AXXE set of sounds from Easysounds . Load them into your Montage. I think you'll find exactly what you're looking for.

I wonder will that "AXXE" be converted to the Montage format any time soon. I'll head over to EasySounds and inquire about that. I don't want to buy it for the XF if it's in the works to be converted.

I sent Peter an inquiry concerning this possibility and I also requested a realistic and responsive pedal steel for Montage while he's at it. Once I hear something I'll post back concerning his reply.

Hi, Peter sale Axxe and Pulse on Easy Sounds but Axxe is programmed by Dave Polich of DCP Productions.
Peter can send your invoice to Dave, i have the Axxe XS version load in my Montage, it's sound fine withtout any problems, Axxe is done without user sample, all waveforms used are preset.

I agree, this is by far the best demo I have seen showing the capabilities of the Montage.

Joel made the point that all waveforms are present for the AXXE pack. That means that it will access all of the XF waveforms (inside Montage) but it still won't take advantage of the Montage new waveforms. You can however edit the performance to access those new waveforms to see what happens. I'm still waiting for word back from Dave/Peter on whether a converted AXXE is on the way or not.

I just got this reply from Dave:

Hi Stuart,

Thank you so much for contacting me. Yes I am working on Montage versions of my libraries. Hoping to get Vintage Keys Montage
and Axxe Montage to Easy Sounds sometime in May.

Best,
