There are some files referenced in this tutorial series for which the links don't work anymore (they point to a Google Drive location that's empty).

I've seen this for some other tutorials as well.

Would be great to have those links refreshed (ar at least have the files posted as attachments in this thread).
It makes pretty hard to follow those tutorials otherwise.

This happens every few months since as far back as I can remember. I don't see the policies that result in this changing anytime soon. This particular one is a little different variation on theme however. Rarely have I seen articles reference google drives. It'd be great for Yamaha just to own more static file store and use that. I do see Yamaha domain file storage (in some messages/tutorials) - but it seems very hodge-podge what's used.

The bad thing about picking google drive is it's a lot harder to figure out where it may now live. As opposed to Yamaha-domain links which usually just change paths and can still, most of the time, be found. Still, this seems like how things have been going for a long time and don't necessarily see any great strides in formalization and consistency.

... given that this is an X8B I'm not sure why Soundmondo wasn't picked at least as one place to store the tutorial's Performance. Yamaha has an entire dedicated eco-system for sharing things like this but doesn't seem to be using it when appropriate.

This particular 4-part FM series seems very useful as it concentrates on real time control, assignable knobs etc.

However, each article uses a file as a starting point, so without those the articles are close to useless.

The links are broken in each article.

This is the problem with outsourcing.

It will take them 1000's of times longer to find who is responsible than to just fix it if someone at Yamaha did all this stuff and was the customer/user facing web wiz.

Having found who is responsible, 1000's of minutes will be wasted on figuring out what should be done, and who should do it, and determining if any exploratory work is needed on what else should be done... again, rather than just fixing it.

And then there'll be meetings about the costings of doing whatever it is that's decided is not done.

And then about finding and tendering the folks to do it, as opposed to attempting to contractually enforce someone currently tendered to doing it.

etc etc etc.

And most companies think this outsourcing saves them money.

Hilarious.

Optimistically I'm going to assume BM will fix this since it's his article and he can place ("publish" ) the file in a better spot this go around. I looked at his Soundmondo shares for Montage/MODX and didn't see this.

This does create customer sat issues having links break all the time.
