I am a seasoned live musician with a couple of Kurzweil keyboards and am considering adding mx61 to my keyboard set. However, I'm a real newbie when it comes to recording and have a few questions regarding the mx61.

1 I would like to run the Cubase that's bundled with the mx61 through a New Vision Windows 10 tablet. This tablet I think has a very basic sound card. Can I expect using mx61 USB with Cubase might run adequately with this tablet? ( for example the tablet only has an earphone jack out and not a combined mic Jack so I can't even record via audacity into the tablet. But it does have a USB port)

2 - does the mx61 version 2 currently ship with Cubase 6 or 8? I've seen various answers on the reviews I've researched.

3 - does the Aux jack in only playback MP3 players to board outputs, or could I record the Aux in audio through the USB recording into Cubase? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm new to this stuff. I was even thinking if you could record audio in one might be able to plug a line in from another instrument into the Aux jack and then record in the Cubase project, or is this not possible?

You will want to check with Steinberg about the current situation with Cubase, Cubasis and Windows 10 Tablet. I know there was talk about it working two years ago, so I'm sure it's something that has been gaining in popularity. They will be able to tell you which version of their software runs on which tablets. The MX61 comes with an Access Code that entitles the original purchaser to a free download of the current version of Cubase AI for Windows or Macintosh. When connected to a computer or laptop, the MX acts as it's own USB MIDI and audio interface, you require only a USB cable and a quality pair of monitors. The is an ASIO driver for Window and one for Macintosh. The are some tablets that can run full versions of software - it's something you will want to check on with Steinberg directly.

Check with Steinberg what is necessary for use with tablet version of Cubase called "Cubasis" and whether or not your particular tablet can the full version of Cubase

The MX comes with the current version, which now is Cubase AI9.

The Aux jack goes straight to the main Output. It is not an Analog-to-Digital input so NO, you can't Output it to the DAW (Cubase).
