Once your IPAD is connected to MO 88 and FM ESSENTIALS makes the connection do you need to have the IPAD connected the next time you use the keyboard?

No.
Naturally, if you want to use them both you can connect them.
It basic MIDI. Each can be used alone.
To use them together, connect them.
To use them individually, don't.
