Questions about triggering XF6 with my DAW

Hi!

I'm using a VST in Studio One which generates a chord when pressing a key on the keyboard, this data are then transmited as MIDI data to my XF6. This works fine in performance mode. In pattern mode though it seem like data that's layered on each track becomes a trigger aswell, not only when playing a key
physically. Is there any way to prevent XF6 from sending MIDI data of all tracks back to my DAW?

Thanks!

Sorry, we don't know what you are describing in Studio One, but can help you understand the difference between what gets transmitted in each of the Motif XF6 modes.

In Performance mode the XF transmits on a single MIDI channel from the keyboard. The MIDI channel that is selected is shown by going to UTILITY > [F5] CONTROL > [SF2] MIDI > here you can see the current setting under KEYBOARD TRANSMIT CHANNEL. You can select the transmit channel here or you do it from the main PERFORMANCE mode screen, as follows:
Press

Now you can use numbered buttons [1] to [16] to transmit on channels 1-16, respectively.

In Song/Pattern mode the XF transmits on a single MIDI channel from the keyboard. The currently selected transmit channel is shown by pressing

and using the buttons [1]-[16] to select a transmit channel.

Now when you are in Pattern mode if there is data written to the sequencer tracks then it will also send notes out to your DAW. You don't mention whether or not you are using the internal sequencer. If you don't want the XF's sequencer to start and stop when you activate your DAW you must set the SEQUENCER CONTROL parameter accordingly.
UTILITY > F5 CONTROL > SF1 MIDI set Sequencer Control = Off.

You also have to consider the LOCAL CONTROL setting. If you do not want the XF keys to trigger the XF directly, set LOCAL CONTROL = OFF.
