Hello.

I'm almost certain that this question has already been answered somewhere, but darned if I could find it anywhere.

I would simply like to send a program change from my Arturia Keylab 88 controller so it changes not just a voice within the Multi but the entire preset.

Right now, I can do this from another app called BandHelper (Arlomedia) using MSB/LSB and Program Number but it doesn't quite work on the Arturia.

Any thoughts?

MSB 63
LSB 68
Program Change 0-127

This should select the entire Multi when sent on the Basic Receive Channel of the Motif-Rack XS.
Is this what your are sending?

That's correct Phil. It's got to be an issue with the Arturia KL series. I've got a post on their forum as well, but they rarely respond, so I posted it here just in case there are other Arturia users out there who've cross this bridge before.

BTW, last night I watched your video on the MOXF6, and in it you demonstrated the AF1/AF2 buttons with an acoustic bass sound doing harmonics and slides. I just now got my Arturia to send the CC's specified on the Global page and it worked. How cool is that?!? 🙂

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!

UPDATE:
Posts from other non-Arturia controller forums indicate that this is NOT just a problem for KeyLab users. I also found an old solution which was to upgrade the firmware to version 1.02. I actually remember doing this on my old Motif Rack Classic which DID solve the problem for IT. However, the XS Rack is now the patient in need of something. I have confirmed that it is running 1.04 which is the latest as of this writing.

I have confirmed that MSB/LSB 63/68 with a Program Change 0-127 does the trick.

Sorry, I cannot help you with your controller. Try using a sequencer to verify that the issue is your keyboard, not a setting in the Motif-Rack XS.

We should mention you must be in MULTI mode for the Bank Select to work. Channel messages like Bank Select and PC cannot switch Modes, only Banks within the current mode.

Grrr...

I've been pouring through the Arturia KeyLab 88 manual, and over and over again it says that to send a Patch Change, you send the Program Number, MSB and LSB.

Then I read this sentence carefully:

After this, when Pad 1 is pressed the KeyLab will send a program change command with a value of 54, accompanied by a Bank LSB value of 50 and a Bank MSB value of 81.

In other words, Arturia doesn't send it all together or in the order we think (Prog/MSB/LSB), it sends it in the order Program, LSB then MSB.

So, I tried entering 063 for the LSB and 068 for the MSB, and sure enough, it worked!

Mad that they do this backwards 🙁 , but happy I was able to solve it 😀 . Now how do we let the rest of the world know?

I'll update the post on Arturia's forum too. 😉

Cool. Yes the order counts!

Select the Bank first, then the program in that bank. Logical.

Hey Badmister,

What page in the Motif-Rack XS DATA List reference guide did you find the LSB 68 information for the MULTI?
