When i turn the receive switch off for "Sustain" in a performance on only one part it still sustains? The switch doesnt seem to do anything? Is there something else to check.

I happened to be playing "Case 75 Amp". So I started there. Added a PART ("Classical Strings") as PART3. I edited the strings. Common, Mod/Control -> Receive Sw and turned off "Sustain". The Strings no longer sustained when I pressed the pedal. The Rhodes still was sustaining.

I went into both parts 1 and 2 (since Case 75 Amp is a 2-parter) and turned off Sustain in the same menu. Now neither strings nor the Rhodes sustained.

That's an answer for using sustain filter with one set of specifics.

However, if you're having a problem then either an X7B or description of the performance you're starting with (and what PARTs, if any, you've added) would help.

The other place to look is the release (Amplitude EG). If you set this up as a long time - then it (the element) will take a long time to decay after a note off event. It will self-sustain. Look for control sources with destinations targeting the release time as they can be "sneaking in" adjusting your release time.

I think that covers the Montage territory. If you're sending MIDI through something external - then make sure the external device/DAW doesn't filter out note-off messages.

The RECEIVE SWITCH set to Off will stop the current Part from responding to cc64 messages.

Remember you maybe transmitting from the Montage on several channels simultaneously... as many as eight maximum.

Use the upper [SOLO] button and the [PART SELECT x] button to verify what you are saying... you may discover the Part you switched Off for Receiving Sustain, is not even sounding... each Part can have different requirements (Note Limits, Velocity Limits, XA Control, Super or AsgnKnob position, etc).

Try it on "CFX + FM EP"
Set the Sustain Receive Switch to Off for Part 5
Part 5 will only play when the Super Knob is rotated toward maximum.
It should not Sustain... while Parts 1-4 that make up the acoustic piano do.

View the HOME screen Parts so you can see the meters indicate which Part or Parts are active, and when.

Thanks I'll do some testing and see what I find, from memory the performance part was part 7 and when I switched off the Receive Swtich for sustain it definately didnt stop sustaining that part.

Cheers

If you provide specifics the answer can be more specific.

The most specific piece of data being an X7B of your performance along with a blurb of which PART is problematic (you said PART 7 - but weren't sure). This is just to expedite what PART to start looking at. Should be obvious even without the blurb.

The only other thing I can think of is the continuous damper mode. "Sustain = OFF" I would think would negate (ignore) that - meaning turn off a switched sustain and ignore all values for the continuous damper - but I'm not 100% sure. Something I didn't test to be solid on.
