Hi there,

I have seen it suggested so as to have a group of your favourite or most used voices for a particular band or gig situation, that you fill up the 16 slots with the required voices and then save this grouping as a performance.

In my particular situation, which is that I am creating groupings within the performance for different songs eg. Parts 1 and 2 are on channel 1 (Song 1) Parts 3 and 4 on channel 2 (song 2) etc.

The problem which I am now encountering and which I am not sure if it is a limit of my understanding or an actual MX61 limit, is that if I want to have parts 5 and 6 on channel 3 , then I do not have any part effects able to be used for these parts, which means Parts 5 and 6 sound very different to what they would when you are exploring the voice categories.

Am I seeing this correctly?

If by “part effects” you are referring to Insertion Effects, a maximum of four Parts in any set of 16 can have their Insertion Effect active, simultaneously. All 16 Parts have access to the Performance’s System Effects - Reverb and Chorus via the Rev Send and Cho Send, per Part.

As you will see as you play through the MX many of the sounds do not use Insertion Effects. They are to give a particular instrument its special quality, for example, a distortion for an electric guitar, (perhaps not necessary on a nylon or steel string guitar)… a rotary speaker for a tone wheel organ sound,

EFFECT BLOCK
Insertion Effects can be applied individually to Voices assigned to specific Parts before merging the signals of all Parts. It should be used for sounds for which you want to drastically change the character. Each Voice features one Insertion Effect. You can set different Effect types to the Insertion Effect…. This instrument features four Insertion Effects, which can be applied to four Parts (maximum) of the Performance.
