We assume you are using Chrome as your browser?

Hi Bad Mister, yes using latest version of Chrome and Win 10 64bit. Tried reinstalling Windows twice but no luck, tried different ports and USB leads and also reinstalled Steinberg driver several times.
Soundmondo says im connected just cant sync. Sounds like a lot of other people are having the exact same problem too...
Device manager says "the device is working properly" in the general tab...

I guess for a lot of us, we will have to live without this app seeing as there's no fix. Hopefully someone else will make a similar app.

Greg,
Sorry that you are having issues with Soundmondo. It is not a perfect system... but it is working for many and when it does work it is very cool. Currently, the system is running fine... as I see new posts going up everyday. So your issue is likely local to your computer/MODX connection. I mention that because there are systemwide issues from time to time. But this is NOT one of those times.

Don’t reinstall Windows, it is unlikely that has anything to do with your issue, and it rarely fixes anything. (It only adds to your frustration).
Did you get an error message saying to do this? Likely no. While it is an activity making you feel like “if I start from scratch, it’ll work”... mostly it doesn’t.

I’ve rarely found that the installation of or reinstallation of the Operating System fixes anything. Stop doing that, _ unless you get other indicators that your Windows installation is at fault. Windows will tell you if something working properly or not. It is actually very good at self analysis. You are simply wasting time and energy reinstalling Windows.

In general, on Windows, pick one USB Port and stick with it. Windows will report if a Port is NOT working properly... randomly moving ports actually makes things worse on Windows computers.
If the device is reported as working proper, then the computer (Windows) does not have an issue.
For anything that requires some setup/configuration, there will be few people out of a hundred, that have problems. It is usually some conflict or step they are sure means nothing but is preventing things from working. Most times it’s not their fault.

If the program sees your instrument and says you are connected (green), then you have several indicators that it is working... at least partially.

The fact that it is not Syncing is the very last item and sounds like a communication issue. To Sync a message is sent, received and a response is given.

Checklist:
Concentrate on the connectivity. Did you try a different USB cable (same port, new cable)?
Is the cable unusual? I spent weeks with someone, only to find out they had a bad cable (a twenty foot USB cable, yikes, at least it was expensive). Swapped the cable and poof!
Are you Signed In?

On the MODX, make sure that Bulk Protect is not On

Is it possible your computer security system is preventing this communication?
See if your security settings report any issues with Chrome or the Website or if there is a setting preventing communication via the Internet. Some security systems may not report it unless you go look.

You say the latest Chrome... what version?
Do have access to another device that might be able to connect to Soundmondo with?
A neighbor or fellow musicians computer, iPhone, or iPad?
Are you Signed In?

Unfortunately, I am not a computer/internet geek (I can help you troubleshoot the synth much better than issue with computer related issues - there are too many unknowns).

From previous posts:
Have you tried clearing the cache in Chrome? Under Chrome/About Google Chrome/Settings/Advanced/Privacy and Security/Clear Browsing Data. You can choose the elements you want to clear. Try clearing your cache and try again. This has helped some users.

Hi BM, thanks for the detailed reply and for trying to help. I have already tried all the things you have listed here but thanks. Don't have an Iphone or tablet to try unfortunately. Chrome version is 74.0.3729.131 (Official Build) (64-bit). Also no issues with security. I don't think there is anything wrong with my cable as MODX Connect would report offline and blue icon would not be lit either. It's a pity nobody else has replied to this post as there are so many others with this exact issue... Thanks again BM...

You may not think it is your cable, but it is clear that the two-way communication is not happening. Your software ‘sees’ the Keyboard, but perhaps the other direction is not communicating. (No one ever thinks it could be the cable).

Are you able to make MODX CONNECT work? That is, Can you both save and load items? If yes, then we can assume the cable is working... and that the USB port on your MODX is working.

Since you began this thread (April 30) over 200 new posts have gone up on Soundmondo.
I promise I’ll continue to look into this for you. Because it’s such a great thing once you get it going... I can setup a test on a Windows 10 system (but not until Friday—I’m on the road right now).

Hi BM, thanks for your reply. Yes MODX Connect works both ways. Also when I send Midi out of my DAW, it triggers MODX fine too if that helps...

Just one more thing I will add that I have noticed is that every time I press sync the superknob position Is reset to 0. If I press back to go back to the sounds page it also does the same thing. Not sure if this helps you or not..

The Super Knob is changing when you attempt to Sync but that’s all?
Can you do the following please:
Recall “CFX +FM EP” so you are viewing the HOME screen
Turn the Super Knob to maximum (to play the FM-X electric piano...
Go to Soundmondo, log in.

Find any MONTAGE or MODX item in the Browse area and click on SYNC.

Does the screen still read “CFX +FM EP”?
Did the Super Knob Reset to 0?
Is the sound now the CFX acoustic piano?
