In order for changes you make to a Voice to stay, you must press [STORE], then select a location in the User Bank, and finally press [ENTER] to write your Change into memory.

Oops ! & doing what u said about putting it into memory on a user bank is for ONLY sample imported voices correct ??
Because the factory voices/internal of the motif basically change by pressing store & not having to put them in a user memory right ?
Pls adv
Ty.

No. When you edit a Voice, be it a Sample Voice, a Preset Voice, when you [STORE] you do so to the User Bank. Preset locations cannot be changed, you store the change to User location.

my pitch bender & modulation wheel stopped working??

This is cause to take the instrument to an authorized Service Center. There is nothing in the firmware version that affected your PB Wheel and MW. Drawing that conclusion is like changing the software on your car's internal system, when the tires are flat... it will not fix the issue.

Remember, test the PB and MW on Preset Voices, this eliminates anything you may have "programmed" by mistake. What makes you conclude that they are not working?

- have you tested the MIDI Out by recording the controllers to a Sequencer like Cubase? Reviewing the data...
- have you tested the wheels by connecting to another synth
- have you recorded the wheels to a blank track of the ES Sequencer? Reviewing the Track events...

Thanq.
(1) Will test out ALL the options to see if the PB & MW wheel work.

Now on the editing of voice.
the TABLA is a SAMPLE VOICE that stores in my USR 2.
(2) So when I make changes like for ex. the REVERB (I would wanna lessen it to a practical sounding parameter) then can I just OVERITE it to the same USR 2 voice bank ??
Pls adv
Ty.

In general yes, of course, you can overwrite previous User Voices

Pitch Bend and MW have to set to do something by programming. If you are testing on your Sample Voice, what do you have them programmed to do?

Dear BadMister,
Here's my update:
(1) maybe been a couple of years ago had a ? on tempo to create continuous data to automatically increase/decrease tempo & you very well explained how it can be done on a linear platform (i basically do as much on pattern mode) & today i needed to do that & yeeeeah !! thanq.
(2) On the reverb settings of a SAMPLE VOICE which is on a VOICE PROGRAM on USR2. I made my changes on the REVERB in pattern mode event & stored it (this is all in PATTERN MODE) it did ! so DE JA VU ?? I did'nt have to save it in memory in a USR voice OR overite it etc as per our recent discussion.
It's working fine.Thank GOD & BadMIster.
(3) NOW comes the current issue that i need resolve on.Please ty.
i checked out FACTORY VOICES say like guitar & the MW 1 (modulation wheel correct ?) when i slide it it does work.
So apparently the SAMPLE VOICE needs to be SET.
As you know (it might take me quite some time in figuring it out) something real simple for u, but for me that's not the case.

Highly appreciate it if u could clearly explain step by step on how i can get the PITCH BENDER to do what it should & the MODULATION too on a SAMPLE VOICE especially the SITAR which needs a Pitch Bend quite often to express the actual sound of a SITAR.What should i do to ENABLE in the SETTINGS/EDIT etc.
Please Mr.BadMIster i'm on a deadline project.
TY.

I know you think I remember you, thanks for that confidence... I've reread this thread and looking at your posts and my answers, I've guessed that you own a Motif ES, I assume that is correct. I can see you posted in the Legacy forum, you mention a User Sample Voice, and firmware 1.08 so I'm fairly confident it's a Motif ES...

I don't understand your question 1, sorry. Is that even a question? Song mode being linear has a Tempo track. Pattern mode working in a cycling/looping manner, of course, does not. All Pattern Sections and their phrases run at the same, current tempo.

Again, I don't understand the point you're making but you say it's working fine, then that's good.

You leave too much unstated... the Pitch Bend Wheel is a controller, I'm going to assume you want to bend pitch... but as you realize that is just one of the things it can be assigned to do. How far do you need to bend the pitch?

Go to VOICE mode
Recall your Sitar Voice
Press [EDIT]
Press [COMMON]
Press [F1] GENERAL
Press [SF5] OTHER
Set the PB RANGE
Range can be set independently for upward and downward bending, values are semitones.

The Modulation Wheel (MW) is a controller, again you leave unstated what it is you want it to do...it is typically used to apply a Low Frequency Oscillator to affect some change in the sound... what do you want to modulate? Pitch? Timbre? Volume?

Pitch Modulation is what musicians call "vibrato"
Filter Modulation changes the timbre and is what musicians call "wah-wah"
Amplitude (Volume) changes are what musicians refer to as "tremolo"

Again, the assignment is made in VOICE mode
Press [EDIT]
Press [COMMON]
Press [F4] CTRL SET (Controller Setup)
Here you will find the Controller matrix where you can setup six different SOURCE/DESTINATION assignments.
Source = the physical controller
Destination = the parameter being adjusted
Depth = the degree or amount being applied and the direction of application.

Depending on the Destination parameter, you may additional have access to which of the four Elements in the Voice responds to your setup... when you have selected an Element Destination, like E-LFO (Element LFO) you will see the "Element SW" Element Switches for 1-2-3-4.

What do you wish to Modulate?

Please explain like very clearly & slow, please ty.
I'm ok till i reach PB range.
Now what i'm trying to do is like to have the SITAR able to pitch bend the notes.
& use the 1st wheel as the controller (on the KORG it is a joy stick)
so to have the 1st wheel as the controller to bend the pitch ascending/descending please real slow with me
it takes me a while (i'm just getting younger 🙂
