Hey, I am having 2 separate issues regarding my reface DX and CS.
CS: I am trying to connect via usb for midi, but maschine 2 software isnt recognizing the CS to receive midi from my maschine (out). Although strangely it appears as "reface CS" on the midi input of the maschine software. So pretty much it wont transmit midi to the synthesizer, but I can record in midi by playing it if that makes sense?
DX: I bought some USB cables to reduce using midi cables, but when I connect the DX with a usb cable I get a terrible 'humming' sound. It happens as soon as the midi touches the port of the DX before even being fully plugged in. Obviously a bit of an issue but if I need to I can use the midi breakout than thats what I have to do. Still would be nice to resolve this. I tried plugging in the adapters into different outlets to see if it was a grounding issue, but it is 100% coming from the usb when I connect or touch it.

What type of computer or host device is running "maschine"?
Are you using the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver? Available for Windows and Macintosh computers.
From the Owner's Manual:
[USB] terminal
For connecting a computer or a smart device such an iPhone or iPad by using a USB 1.1 or 2.0 cable. MIDI messages can be both transmitted and received via this terminal. Refer to “Precautions when Using the [USB] Terminal” (page 39) for details.

Precautions when Using the [USB] Terminal
When connecting this instrument to a computer via the [USB] terminal, be sure to observe the following precautions. Failing to do so risks freezing your computer or instrument and corrupting or losing data.
If your computer or instrument should freeze, try restarting the application being used, rebooting the computer, and turning the instrument off and then back on.
NOTICE
• Use a USB A-B cable of no more than 3 meters in length. Do not use a USB 3.0 cable.
• Before connecting to your computer via the [USB] terminal, disable any power-saving mode (such as Suspend, Sleep, or Standby).
• Connect your computer via the [USB] terminal before turning on the instrument.
• Be sure to always perform the following steps before turning the instrument on or off (standby) and either plugging in or unplugging a USB cable.
- Quit all applications.
- Ensure that no data is being transmitted from the instrument. (Note that even playing a single key causes data to be transmitted.)
• When connected to a computer, allow at least six seconds to pass between turning the instrument on and off and plugging in and unplugging the USB cable.
Yamaha USB-MIDI Driver
Normally, the transmission and receipt of data begins automatically after connecting MIDI cables and turning on the instrument. If, however, your computer is having difficulty communicating with the instrument, please download the standard Yamaha USB-MIDI driver from the following web page and install it on your computer.
