I have now downloaded 6 Libraries - and each one is in a new Library location. Each Library is able to hold 640 sounds, but none of the downloads contain anything like that number. So 6 of the 8 available Libraries are occupied wastefully. I would like to transfer sounds between Libraries so that each is fully utilised. Is that possible in a simple way?

Allied to this, some of the sounds downloaded are unusable (for me) and I want to delete them to save space. As I understand it, I can only delete the entire Library? To delete individual files, it would be necessary to save the wanted files to a User area, and THEN delete the entire Library. Is that right? It just seems a long way round to have to save 450 files in order to delete 40 (for example). I could then save the User files as a Library - which provides a roundabout way of creating fully used Libraries (ie: all 640 slots filled) as asked in Para: 1 above. Hopefully it's simpler than that!

I understand that I would need to save my User files to a USB to be sure of not losing them. The question arises - can 'Connect' be used in any way? 'Connect' seems to operate only with single sounds, not Banks or Libraries, so is not really suitable for this kind of operation?

My thanks to any enlightenment and guidance on this ...

It is possible, whether you think it is a simple way or not, I cannot answer. The explanation is simple enough.

1) CLEAR your internal USER Bank
2) Use the UTILITY function "IMPORT FROM LIBRARY" to fill the current USER Bank
3) Once you have assembled from the various Libraries the data that you want, SAVE a new LIBRARY FILE
4) Clear out your old Libraries... and install your NEW Library.

Allied to this, some of the sounds downloaded are unusable (for me) and I want to delete them to save space. As I understand it, I can only delete the entire Library? To delete individual files, it would be necessary to save the wanted files to a User area, and THEN delete the entire Library. Is that right? The concepts are simple enough to understand. ROM is READ ONLY MEMORY. You can only READ data from it, you cannot do anything but READ the data.

RAM is Random Access Memory. Your USER Bank is RAM.

In order to do anything to a Library you must move it into RAM. This is not unusual in computer/chip based world of working. It may seem like a "long way round" but it is efficient and the way things work.

RULE: Do not install a LIBRARY until you have assembled everything you want in that Library. You are BURNING the data into ROM. The "o" is ONLY.

That simple, that complex.

With the [UTILITY] > "Contents" > "Data Utility" you would go to the PERFORMANCE folder, use the "JOB" function in the upper right corner which will allow you to select the Performances you wish to delete from your USER Bank (RAM) - just place a checkmark next to all those you want to DELETE. You are creating a USER BANK that then can be SAVED to a LIBRARY FILE> THEN finally install the FILE> That's it.

Thank you, BM! Bad choice of word - I should have said 'quick' rather than 'simple'. I had backed up my User Bank (just in case) but of course the files are still on the Montage - and I don't know how to 'CLEAR' them en masse? Is that just the 'Delete' routine? (UTILITY' - Content - Data Utility - Job - Select All - Delete)

Anyway, I pressed on, and found a box at the bottom of the screen that said 'Select all', so I went that way (knowing I can delete User Performances) as being a possibly quicker way? Debatable! Not helped by the Library sounds not being in alphabetical order as they are on the 'Import' screen!

Unlike the Bosendorfer, my other Libraries when transferred appear in the Main 'ALL' category (or 'No Assign'), and not in the other categories (Piano, Organ and so on). Once I have finished editing, can I assign the new sound (re-named!) to one of the other categories? If so, how do I do that, please? I imagine it must be possible? I want to end up with theme-based Libraries, rather than random ones.

Thank you, as always, and stay well ..

An alternate method is to go to [UTILITY] > "Settings" > "System" > touch the box to "Initialize User Data"

Hello BM, and thanks - I will add that method to my 'How to' journal! I have started a new topic on assigning ex: Library edited User Bank files to a category rather than 'ALL' as it may be of interest to many owners ... you are my best bet for knowing how it's done though ...
