Hello, I'm new here.
I have a problem with assigning midi tracks and VST editor channels. I'm trying to assign different instruments in a midi file that I picked up from Internet. In most of channels I hadn't problems but I'm having problems with pad and el piano tracks (11 and 12 tracks and chanels are the same).

When I assign a current instrument in the VST editor and run playback throuth Cubase (LE 6) my VST channel in the editor changes itself the instrument every time. I tried to change the channel numbers but without seccess.

Thanks for the question.
First, you should be using Cubase AI6 (not LE) you are cheating yourself out of some features. AI6 is the same as LE except that it has special additional features for those who own Yamaha products. You'll never know what you are missing.

Next, the Editor nor the S90 XS/S70 XS can do nothing on it own - you can bet that in the file itself are Bank Select and Program Change events that are responsible for changing the Voice assigned to that PART.

Change it to what you desire. Then during playback make notice of exactly which MEASURE that change occurs, then go and edit the data on that track in that measure there you will find the following messages:

Control 0
Control 32
PC

Control 0 is the MSB for Bank Select... if this was a GM file it will have a value of 000
Control 32 is the LSB for Bank Select... if this was a GM file it will also have the value 000
PC is the Program Change number... this is the number that the Voice changes to ...

If you are revoicing (selecting your own sounds to substitute for what the original programmer did) it would be wise to remove those instructions. The keyboard nor the editor are making these changes - the original programmer IS!

Hope that helps.

Hello,
Thanks a lot for your answer!!
I solved my problem after deleting the controllers in the beginning of the problem parts!
But I appreciate your help a lot!

Actually I use AI 6 edition.

Actually, you would have to be using AI6 because you're running the Editor.
