My first time trying to load old DX sounds into my MODX and, following Blake Angelos's directions, I found that the page tells me "The Yamaha FM Converter is under maintenance". Another Yamaha forum informs me that this has been the case for several months.

Is there an alternative site?

No alternative. The message about maintenance is an advancement since the last I checked where there was no indication.

The FM Converter is back online and I was able to receive an X7L file after uploading a DX7 sysex file.

Hi Jason,

I've tried to convert some as well for the past few days since the converter came online again, but even the loading of the sysex data is currently broken which is even worse than before.

I've tried using latest Firefox and Chrome on Windows 10 x64 with ad-blockers disabled.

More details about the actual issue in the other thread here:

I just retested and it is still working. FYI, I am using the following to test:

https://alexannesty.com/assets/dx7s-sysex/internal/dx7s-int-1_32.syx

dx7s-int-1_32.syx is a well-formed SysEx file and has content supported by the converter. Maybe try this file and see if it works or not to try to determine if there's any reason to suspect your browser stack or if perhaps the issue is with the data.

Thanks Jason,

Just tried using the sysex file you posted but still the same issue using every browser on my PC (Firefox, Chrome & Edge).
I however managed to successfully convert/export using Chrome on Android so somethings up with my PC I guess.

The files I've previously used to test the converter have worked before so I was pretty sure they work now as well (if nothing had changed in the converter itself that is).

I'll report back if I figure out what is actually wrong.

Update: Just found the issue.

Previously I had cleared the cache in each browser without any success.
But after clearing all cookies and session data as well, the converter started to work.

All good I guess. Let's hope the site/forum and converter stays online for the foreseeable future though...

Ok great. Yes, I know your previous files worked before and before clearing cache did not work. My goal was to have something that would align us as much as possible and proceed from there. I'm glad you got it worked out on your own. Also, this is helpful for others to be aware that clearing cache may be necessary.
