But if the YC isn't transmitting MIDI in full velocity range I'd have to be able to correct that on the YC. I think it should default to maximum range else it's broken. Sorry for my confusion but why would any MIDI controller not function to maximum range and how would I change that on the YC? I see nothing inside the YC menu to make a correction. It's a pro level board so this isn't something I should have to fix. There's something happening that shouldn't be happening.

You don't have ANY evidence of that yet.

Saw and heard this demo (Woody's Piano Shack) which compares CK against a real Leslie and a YC61. Quite helpful.

It would be interesting to set up a 1:1 comparison against Reface YC, too.

All the best -- pj

I'll watch it but I think that's more about generalizations not does CK sound identical to YC but would also be impossible over a video to tell any thickness or tonal differences. The flashback might not have been using the updated leslie, not sure. I do know for certain the CK is back to a wobbling and not a true rotary or rotation effect. Probably similar to the original YC rotary if even that good. I still keep hearing a more refined tone and more authentic piano on YC vs CK. It's a feeling more than a way of describing it. I think it's the way the sound is processed through the YC better than CK or something intangible going on there. The best way to describe it is "refinement" and tonal accuracy. Without playing them side by side through the same system you might never know. Comparing two different videos won't come close to proving anything. If you've ever heard the Roland pianos they sound similar to a piano but it's not a piano. CK isn't quite as authentic but the other voices might be as good. If it's in the processing, not so much the actual samples, YC is always going to sound a tad better no matter what. The dang velocity is messed up the way CK is receiving signals thru MIDI and not playing the voices correctly or in the same way. The velocity hits a ceiling at 64 so I have to physically change every voice up to 127. CK internally works as expected but not using a MIDI controller.
