The last time I looked at the CP88 Reference Manual I did not see any drum kits listed. Are there any? The significance is that in the CP4 Master Mode I assign Split zone to a drum kit and limit the keys to the last 2 bottom notes of the keyboard. That way I MIDI in a drum track to the Split zone channel, it plays all the internal Split zone drum notes, but the actual keyboard keys (except for the bottom 2 keys) are free for actual playing the entire Master and Layer zones. I do this because the drum/percussion sounds produced internally by the CP4 are far superior to the audio drum notes on the iPad. I know the CP88 is set up differently, but it would not serve my purposes if I could not accomplish the same drum kit MIDI input as I can with the CP4. I hope I am wrong about this, but would appreciate confirmation/correction one way or the other. Thanks in advance.
No, there are no Drum Kits in the CP88/CP73.
Thank you Bad Mister for your response. Personally, for the reason I mentioned, I feel that not including drum kits is a mistake. I also believe that the CP4 will become a classic with its very solid build and fantastic SCM piano sounds/samples which Yamaha promoted as almost multi-dimensional (my words). In fact, in response to one of my CP4 posts you stated that it is impossible to tell the difference in sound between a real acoustic grand piano and the CP4 when listening to both played in a recording. Anyway, the CP88 has come cool features, but for me I am keeping the CP4 even if tweaking the voices takes more effort and time.
