How do you update the OS on the CP73. What format is needed on the USB thumb drive? Will the new OS fix the lack of volume for headphones?
I am using 38 ohm ATH-M50x and 63 ohm Sony 7506 @ 63 ohms. They both are distorted with no dynamic range.

Instructions are included with the firmware updater. The thumb drive should formatted FAT32.
There is nothing in the firmware update that has to do with your issue, as far as I know. You need to contact your retailer or an authorized repair center. “Distorted with no dynamic range” sounds like you have a malfunctioning instrument.
There is one possibility: you set the MENU LIST > KEYBOARD/PEDAL > Touch Curve > to “Fixed” and set the Fixed Velocity = 127.
Unlikely but if you did, that could be a problem — if you did, why?
If you did not, then have your instrument checked by an authorized service center.
