After a long wait, the CP gains some features and content.  You can read about the various updates in the music production guide and check out the YouTube video for some demos.

Dubious Montage M claim in the guide.

The Update supports MIDI 2.0 on Windows 11 systems. This
means that the high-resolution data protocol can now also
be used on PC-based instruments.

Seems questionable since Win 11 doesn't yet support MIDI 2.0 - certainly not in any public release. They are in the late stage of implementation and testing and Win 11 support is expected later this year.

And there is not yet an updated Data List doc with the info needed to use that 'high-resolution data protocol' mentioned. The current doc indicates much of that info isn't included yet.

Even the NAMM info says things like this:

The 2025 NAMM Show will feature a demonstration of Network MIDI 2.0 on Windows 11. The MIDI Association will also host a presentation on the topic

  • Windows MIDI Services
Windows MIDI Services will support both MIDI 1.0 and MIDI 2.0, and will be available as a tech preview in Insider builds.
  • USB Audio Class 2 + ASIO Driver
Microsoft is developing a new low-latency USB Audio Class 2 driver with ASIO support
