I've been watching the Montage demos controlling parts coming in and out and so I wanted to do this on my CP1. Such as bringing in a DX voice over a CFX piano. I know that with a button press I can turn it on or off but assigning this to the pedal works much better. I started using my FC2 set to volume control to interject the 2nd voice and just leave both voices active. This also works well for flavoring up a primary voice by introducing a second voice that has been "messed up" with some effects modulation. The change can be subtle or significant. I play around with the effects modulations assigned to the FC2 as well. I understand the CP1 has a real FM engine (not just sampled FM) but why there's not 100 set FM voices instead of only (4) is extremely odd for a $6,000 machine. That's like putting a Ferrari engine inside a car and then installing a 10mph limiter on it. Or why you can't load FM/DX programs even if you can't program your own. Somehow it's like Yamaha ran out of budget and scrapped all of the common sense FM implementations. I mean you could mix in unlimited FM/DX tones with any on-board piano and have an extraordinary setup with the CP1. Initially there was speculation of such capabilities but then it never transpired. I can't imagine that only (4) DX voices was Yamaha's original design intent else they would have only sampled (4) DX voices for next to no cost in comparison.
