CP88 Felt Piano Issue - High Pitched Noise

I am a recent owner of the CP88 and am really loving it. A big upgrade from the keyboard that I am coming from. One of the reasons I chose this keyboard is for the felt sound. It sounds so good but I have been noticing that there is a high pitched noise that comes from the patch, especially when playing in the C4 to C5 octave. In order to get rid of the sound I have to EQ the entire keyboard or change the tone which changes the character of the patch. The high pitched sound seems to be baked in to the sample somehow.

I am wondering if anyone else is having this issue and knows a fix because the sound is really irritating and is beginning to hurt my ears. I also came across this post from another fellow CP88 owner who is having the same issue:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

On a U1 (and really any acoustic piano) the strings from the high G (G5) and above are open. There are no dampers, so those strings resonate. You'll notice that there is no key-off sound either, which is the sound of the damper dropping back on to the string when the key is released. Since there is no damper that sound isn't present.

EQ is a way to minimize this if it is too much for you, and if you use the high EQ alone and dial it in properly it will only affect that part of the sound. You can save the roll off with the Live Set Sound (under Function/Live Set EQ/Mode SW = ON) and change the EQ in the "EQ Settings" menu. This will save the Live Set EQ settings within the Live Set so when you recall it will lock that roll off in.

Thanks so much for the reply and insight. I'll look into those EQ settings. I still get the high pitched whining sound but after dialing back the tone nob and a bit of high EQ the whine is a bit more tolerable. I hope there is an update for the patch in the future that removes this problem.

Save your changes after you make modifications.

I hope there is an update for the patch in the future that removes this problem.

Don't hold your breath. How something sounds is highly subjective.

The presets are only meant to demonstrate what the instrument is capable of. They won't necessarily meet your individual taste.

Listen to a preset, make any changes you want and then save those changes. That way you don't need to wait for any, not likely to come, updates.
