I highly recommend that you call Yamaha (your regional Yamaha contact information is listed in the back of the Owner's Manual). Get ahold of a Service Technician. Explain what happened and let them talk you through what to remove (what not to remove) and how to best recover your guitar pick.

I've learned that things like opening your keyboard is often more involved than you might think. Reach out for help. The good folks who work in Service at Yamaha can tell you what to remove and importantly, what not to remove.

I could scare you with nightmare stories --where removing the wrong screws can dislodge internal items you do not want to dislodge; but hopefully just that mention should be enough. It is extremely easy when you KNOW exactly what to do versus making your own best guesses.

Let us know.

I took a long hard look at things... bright flashlight.

I was able to fish it out with a flattened bamboo skewer, fun tac on the end, stuck it to the pick and prayed.
I got it.

Don't use guitar picks to hold down keys, use the old and reliable matchbook.

Or an approved Sustain Pedal. Right tool for the job and all that.

It sounds frustrating to have a guitar pick stuck inside your CP73! While opening the keyboard yourself is an option, it’s important to proceed carefully to avoid damaging the internal components. If you’re comfortable with electronics, you can follow these steps:

  1. Unplug the Keyboard: Safety first—make sure the keyboard is completely powered off and unplugged.
  2. Gather Tools: You’ll need a small screwdriver set to remove the screws holding the case together.
  3. Access the Inside: Flip the keyboard over and locate the screws on the bottom panel. Remove them systematically, keeping track of their placement.
  4. Gently Open the Case: Carefully lift the panel to expose the internal components. Be mindful of any cables connecting the two halves.
  5. Remove the Pick: Locate the guitar pick and gently extract it using tweezers.

If you’re unsure or uncomfortable with DIY fixes, it’s best to contact a professional technician or your keyboard’s manufacturer support team. They can guide you or provide repair services.

Sure! If you're trying to open the Yamaha CP73 stage piano—whether to access the inside for maintenance, upgrades, or repairs—it's important to proceed with care to avoid damaging any components.

First, make sure the keyboard is powered off and unplugged from any power source. Lay the instrument on a soft, stable surface with plenty of space to work. Typically, to open the CP73, you'll need a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws located on the back panel and possibly underneath the unit. Keep track of all screws and their positions as some may be different lengths.

Once the screws are removed, gently lift the top panel or rear housing, depending on the section you need to access. Be careful of any ribbon cables or wiring that may be connected between the top panel and the mainboard—don't tug or pull on them. <a href=" removed link " target="_blank" rel="noopener">logomate

If you're unfamiliar with electronics or the internal layout of digital pianos, it's best to consult the official Yamaha service manual or contact a certified technician. Opening the CP73 on your own may void the warranty, so be sure to check your coverage status first.<a href=" removed link " target="_blank" rel="noopener">youtube
