OK here we are in 2018 and the CP4 is probably at the end of its production cycle, however that does not change the quality of this instrument but I wonder how near we might be to a new CP release ? I am seriously considering buying a CP4 as it suits my needs but like others would hate to hand over the best part of £1650 GBP to find that within months Yamaha release a new version with more refinements and features.

In the meantime I have a question about the CP4 Master Controller functions which I cannot seem to find a answer to in the user manual I downloaded.

How are external midi volumes handled in master mode as there are only three sliders available, is it a case that each zones volume can only be preset in the performance memory or is there a way of being able to change external zone volumes on the fly ?:D

When you activate the MASTER KEYBOARD function within a Performance, you can assign control over a Zone to one of the CP4 STAGE’s three sliders. The VOLUME value can be preset per Zone within the Performance data, if you additionally require real time control, the parameter “Slider” is one of the Master Keyboard assignable settings. See page 25 of the CP4 Reference Manual

For example, you might assign the SPLIT PART’s Slider to Control a Zone.
Press [STORE] to write this assignment into the current Performance.
