Which piano patch are you finding sits best in a mix with full band? I am hearing that the CFXIII is great all by itself but too much for a band setting. Thank you.

Personally, in a jazz context, with or without a band, for me it's virtually always a CFX patch, but it's all about the EQ and Velocity settings. Depends a lot on the band, the music, and the venue, of course.

As you experiment with different piano settings, if you haven't checked this out already I'd suggest that you spend some time exploring the set of CP4 Performances that Bruno Zucchetti put together. He demonstrates some of them in this YouTube video ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bG6eikV9Z0 ... and there's a link in his video description to download his entire .C7A file (free), which includes all of those Performances and many more. Just save the file to a USB drive and load 'em up. Tremendously useful.

Also, I'd suggest maybe posting your question over on the Keyboard Corner forum ... http://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/forums/18/1/The_Keyboard_Corner . There are quite a few CP4 players over there who perform in a variety of different band settings, and might give you some helpful thoughts, or you can search for prior discussions. My impression is that CFX is the voice of choice for most people over there.

Thank you! I did download and install the sound pack you recommended. Very useful! My main focus will be piano and I noticed the downloaded piano sounds generally had a different effect than I was using. He used an eq (EQ501 I believe) on effect B rather than the preamp effect I was using. He had boosted some highs. His sound was brighter and more of an edge. I am hoping this is just what I need for a band-setting. Thanks again.

Update: When I tried the edited piano patch with the band, the sound guys actually had to cut the frequencies I had boosted. I went in and took off the eq and now they can run it mostly flat out front. In a nutshell, the CP4 piano sound is pretty much what my engineer preferred over any edits I made.
