It may have taken me awhile, but I finally got around to working though the tutorial on "Creating a custom piano using a Split Performance" by Blake. Great instructions and the finished performance sounds great. But it seems to me that the volume balance between the Main piano and Split piano is off. The Main piano, S6, seems to me louder than the Split piano, CFIIIS. How do I balance the respective volumes? If it is a matter of volume/gain, settings, what should be the respective volume and gain levels on each piano? The tutorial does not address this issue. In my efforts to resolve the matter myself, I changed these settings and do not know what they were originally. So if it is just my perception of the volumes being unbalanced, could someone please tell me what the original settings were so that I can go back to them. If my perception is correct, then could someone tell my what the setting really should be. If if makes a difference, I am using the Wide 1 Velocity Curve. (As an aside, I just discovered Performance 97, CFX Warm (G01). It is fantastic, sounds perfectly like the real acoustic piano.) Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hello Blake,

Wow! I really appreciate your detailed explanation and mini tutorial. I did not expect that. Its makes sense, but at the moment it's a bit beyond my programing level. On first reading your reply, I opted for Door A, the sliders on the left never looked better. But I am here to learn so I will explore your suggestions. I copied your response to a pdf file on my iPad placed on the music rack attached to the CP4 and will work through this. A great goal to get deeper into the CP4 programing. As it is said,

you don't know what you don't know

. I did not know there was any way to make these alternative adjustments, let alone their impact.

I am using high end headphones in stereo.

On an aside, I listened to your tracks on Soundcloud and was blown away by how well you play and your voicings, particularly on Flashdance. I would love to have a tutorial on the alternative chords you used and voicings. If you ever publish that, please let me know. I assume you have my email address from the forum.

Thank you again for taking the time and effort to assist me. Your response is extremely helpful and testifies to how valuable this forum is.

Earle

Sorry to hijack your thread but I wonder if Blake can assist in the EP department. I have just got the CP4 and love it, best Stage Piano I have owned.

I have followed Blakes MY Mark 2 tutorial which was informative, having owned a few Rhodes I know the sound I want but moving on from that does Blake have a setting to emulate Donald Fagens Rhodes sound using the MXR Phase 90 pedal ? I went to a Dan Concert last year here in London and the minute DF opened up that famous Rhodes sound phased brought back memories and how good a well maintained Rhodes can sound, I am sure that this can be accomplished on the CP4 but as there is so much tweakability in the effects department on the CP4 if Blake has any ideas they would be much appreciated !
