Can I use the performance buttons as "Favorites" even if they are not the category originally assigned to said button? (Example) Have flute on button 1, synth on button 2, Hawaiian guitar on 3, etc....
Short answer: Yes.
The names that appear above the 16 buttons in the right front panel are VOICE CATEGORY buttons. The program's listed under each of these varies by category. Under the "Brass" you'll find brass and woodwind Voices. This is where you will find "Flute 1". If you want to make this the first sound accessed in this Category you can STORE it as the "top of the list" by holding [SHIFT] + [BRASS] - there is a brief message as you preference is registered to your instrument's Flash ROM.
If you would like to then create a PERFORMANCE that is using this Flute 1 Voice, you can do so and then store it to Performance button 1
Press [SHIFT] + [ENTER] to initialize a new Performance
Select the FLUTE 1 Voice as the MAIN Part by touching the [Brass] Voice Category button.
"36:Flute 1" appears in the screen
Press [EDIT]
Make any adjustment or add effects as you desire
Select 01: COMMON > Enter
Select 04: NAME > Enter
Change the default Name from "Init Perf" to something appropriate, example "MyFlute"
Press [STORE]
Select the location you desire: 001 if you want it as your first Performance
[ENTER]
[YES] to execute.
Now when you are in "Performance Select" mode (flashing) your first one 001 is "MyFlute"
Also when you are in "Performance Direct Select" mode ([SHIFT]+[PERFORMANCE]) flashing, your first one is "MyFlute"
You can put your Performances on any button 001-128
"Performance Direct Select" allows the 16 buttons to act as quick access buttons, or you can advance through them with a foot switch or you can step through them with the [+1/YES] button
"Performance Select" you can advance through your Performance by touching the [+1/YES] button, or with a foot switch.
Hope that helps
Thanks Bad mister, I'll start pressing some buttons and see what this technology-challenged old fart can do! Too used to playing real Hammonds and Whirlies. Bob in San Diego, Ca.
If you can work the front panel of a Hammond, the CP4 Stage will be a breeze! 🙂
