I live in Raleigh, NC and can't find any Yamaha dealers who will stock the CP4, whether they're a small dealer or large one like Guitar Center or Sam Ash. Every dealer is happy to special order one for me if I buy in advance, but none will actually stock it. I asked Guitar Center if I just need to go to a larger metro area to find a location that has one, like in Charlotte, and was told that this model is coded so that it will never be in stock. Why?
If this is one of the top two Stage Pianos, why won't anyone stock it? Are they really concerned that they can't sell one of the top two models, or is there something else going on that the dealers know, like a new model being released shortly???
I'm curious how the rest of you tried one before buying. Did you buy it along with the RD-800 and any other contenders with the plan to just return the loser(s) and keep the best one?
I believe there is a dealer in Wilson, NC (Fat Cat Music) who is getting one on display. Is that near you?
Thanks, Bad Mister! That's only an hour away, which is certainly close enough to go check it out. I'll take a drive out there soon.
Call and ask to speak to Eddie... He'll be looking forward to your visit.
I ordered one and tried it out and then returned it. I already had the CP1 and the CP4 was not as good contrary to Yamaha claims that it was "The Best" they have made. Some dealers let you return these days although you might have to pay return shipping and perhaps the original shipping but it might really be worth it for a 20 day trial to really get to know the board.
Well, I'm very satisfied of CP4 expecially after having tried out CP1 :p
I always thought CP1 was just a step to perfection for acoustic piano sounds but with the sound of CFX already in my ears/memory/mind I was a little disappointed (or negatively surprised) by CP1 sound and masterkeyboard features. Expecially its masterkeyboard features let me speechless... CP1 has an operating system bug that prevents controlling an external instrument volume without lowering/increasing also its volume... This is literally indefensible on an instrument of this price tag,
About CP1 preset piano sounds, I found them quite muffled and not really dynamic as CP4 ones. Well, I know that I might enter into Edit mode, but first impression does count.
