There are no new sounds in the update. If you load a .X0A file (Motif XS ALL data Library File) it will load the 384 normal and 32 drum User Voices, the 384 Performances, 128 Master programs, and the Sequencer (Song/Patterns) contained in that file. This can include any User Arps, and Waveforms, if any.

I loaded the .X0A file into the XS6 then tried to load the missing sounds into the XS Editor. These missing sounds I was talking about are actually the Performances sounds. So, I tried few things:
- I tried to Import the .XOA file into the Editor but could not find the sounds in the file.
- When I was syncing the Data to PC and to the keyboard in the AutoSync, I still could not retrieve the Performance sounds in the Voice Library. I tried this in Performance Mode and in Master Mode set on the SX6.
- I was reading about Master Mode and set Zone Switch: on/off. I tried this with one Performance sound but no result.
- I also tried KeyboardTransmitCh: on/off. I found out that Performance sounds are made of up to 4 Voices. All this seems a bit complicated so,
how can I use these Performance sounds in the XS Editor?

The Motif XS Editor is for Voice, Song and Pattern. There is no Performance mode Editor from Yamaha. so this is not unusual.

We are not completely clear on what "missing sounds" means. Did you load the FACTORY SET after updating?
[UTILITY] > [JOB] > [ENTER] > [YES] this will restore the Factory User Voices, the Performances, the Master programs... It will also reset the System settings.

- When I was syncing the Data to PC and to the keyboard in the AutoSync, I still could not retrieve the Performance sounds in the Voice Library. I tried this in Performance Mode and in Master Mode set on the SX6.

Again the Editor works in three modes... VOICE, SONG or PATTERN, period.

Not sure what you are attempting here.

The Editor has three modes, Voice, Song, or Pattern.

I did a Factory Set again with the Power On Auto Factory Set button CHECKED this time. After that, in the UTILITY I tried
Auto Load: off and on with Power On Mode: performance
Auto Load: off and on with Power On Mode: master

Before I worked with the XS Editor I was choosing sounds I like on the keyboard. I found very interesting ones in [MODE][PERFORM]. Some of sounds cannot be found when selecting [MODE][VOICE]. [MODE][PERFORM][CATEGORY SEARCH] window looks different than [MODE][VOICE][CATEGORY SEARCH]. For example in [MODE][VOICE][CATEGORY SEARCH] under ‘Main’ column, I cannot see World or SpLyr. What I want now is to be able to view and select these sounds in the XS Editor’s Voice Library so I can work on them and be able to SAVE them. I want them to be there when I open Cubase again like the other Normal Voices. Is there a way to do this? Or how can I save and use them in Cubase?

well, we are not really sure what you hope to accomplish by doing this. The "Power On Auto Factory Set" is for use at Trade shows and Retail stores... Because what it does is it resets the instrument EVERY TIME. In a music store maybe 30-50 people play the instrument during a typical day, some people trying it out change the Songs, overwrite Patterns, the Power On Auto Factory reset as the name implies removes all the try-out customer Songs, Patterns, Edits, and restores the unit to Factory out-of-the-box condition.

This means every time YOU write new material and power down, you have instructed your instrument NOT TO STORE IT!!!

Why would you do that?
Answer: you really don't want to do that.

Please undo the Power On Auto Factory Set... Otherwise you instrument will not keep anything you record.

I try to give you exact steps to reset your unit. If I wanted you to turn that On, trust me, I would have included that in the post.

What I want now is to be able to view and select these sounds in the XS Editor’s Voice Library so I can work on them and be able to SAVE them. I want them to be there when I open Cubase again like the other Normal Voices. Is there a way to do this? Or how can I save and use them in Cubase?

Again PERFORMANCES cannot be edited in the Editor. Only Voice mode, Song mode, and Pattern mode. Also by setting POWER ON AUTO FACTORY SET, every time you turn on your instrument it will reset. You will lose all your work.... Please please please turn that OFF.

Please see the articles in the RESOURCES area on using CUBASE as your Librarian.

Adding Voices Libraries to Cubase as VST Presets

Although written for the MOXF, it works the same for the Motif-series... All the Preset Voices are already installed when you installed the Editor VST.

Auditioning Voices from Files using the Editor

Although written for the Motif XF, it works the same for the Motif-XS...

Your articles about Adding Voices Libraries to Cubase and about the Auditioning Voices helped me a lot. I consulted the RESOURCES and the FORUM.

I want to be able to modify Parameters of multiple voices at the same time, as an unit but didn’t find out how I can achieve this from the Editor/Cubase. The simplest way I found is to do it only in Song/Pattern Mode, to choose 3 or 4 voices that are contained in these PERFORMANCE sounds and load them on the same track into the Editor. There I will have probably a more refined way to adjust Parameters since I can adjust them for each track. The only disadvantage is that choosing one of these 3 or 4 Voices that PERFORMANCE sounds contain will occupy 4 tracks and I can load only 16 MIDI channels at the time. In this way I can keep a copy of every MIXING setup (including Mixing Voices) in Cubase.

You are saying in an article that
“ multiple instrument sounds can be obtained in a single Voice. “ But you were referring to The Song and Pattern mode's [MIXING] in the XS6. Is it possible?

I was hoping to save .vst presets where I can combine 3 or 4 Voices so I can Load them into the Editor but I couldn’t succeed.

In this article https://yamahasynth.com/index.php?option=com_easydiscuss&view=post&id=392&Itemid=851#reply-415

it says: “Take your multi-timbral setup in Pattern mode, leave the Parts each on a separate MIDI channel... Then associate it with a MASTER mode program using its ability to transmit on as many as eight MIDI channels. Use a Zone for each Part you wish to play.

To control this you do so from the main MASTER mode screen by activating the [PERFORMANCE CONTROL] button.
Now buttons [1]-[8] turn ON (light On) and OFF (light Off) for the corresponding internal Zone.
Buttons [9]-[16] turn ON/OFF for the corresponding external Zone.”

So is it possible achieve my goal from the XS6 side?

Your goal is not really clear to us as you don't specify which parameters, nor do you say how you want modify them. The VST AUTOMATION LANE is there so you can modify data. Dreaming up or finding your own method may not even be necessary. Automation allows you modify data _ but the question is so vague! all we can suggest is to go to the Cubase Documentation and search for Automation... Or give us a better clue about what (specifically) you want to do.

We are sure automation is a better way but without information about exactly what you wish to do ... It too broad a topic to speak generally.
