Hello everyone!
I’ve decided to revive my old motif rack tone generator and I’d like your professional help for the setup.
I want to record audio to my macbook air (Catalina 10.15.7) by connecting motif’s outputs (L/mono + R) to the 2 combo inputs/jacks (XLR+ balanced+ unbalanced, according to the manual) of the audio interface Steinberg UR22 MK2.
As far as I know, motif’s outputs are unbalanced so a TS cable is needed.
I’m a bit confused about the cables that I must use. Is it TS(motif) to TS (steinberg) or TS (from motif) to TRS (to Steinberg)? I’ve read that keyboards/synths are connected with TRS cables and instruments (guitar/bass) with a TS.
Thank you in advance

Connect using unbalanced cable (TS) from the Motif rack to the audio interface's combo XLR+Unbalanced+Balanced. Use the shortest necessary of the highest quality.

If you have lots of interference issues you can connect the Motif rack to a DI box using a short patch cable then run balanced to the audio interface. That is probably overkill.

The Motif rack owner's suggests using the digital out if you have a compatible digital input (for best sound). The UR22 MK2 doesn't have these.
