Hi -
I'm new to the forum, thanks for having me.
I'm trying use the sliders on my Motif ES6 to send MIDI controller data. I've looked through the manual, but I'm not very familiar with this machine and it's very confusing (to me).
I've gotten Kontakt to recognize the first slider, through what feels like randomly trying settings in the utility MIDI menu, but I'm not having any luck with the other three.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Many thanks,
Myles
Well, in case anyone else is trying to do this and is confused, I found the answer by searching on cs2 in the manual. The process is in the zone editor, Everything is pretty straightforward, you just have to set all the zones to the same channel (assuming you want to use all four sliders on the same instrument) and remember to turn MIDI switch to "on" for all the zones. And remember that the "drum kits" button gets you into the "common" zone editing section. The whole thing is on pages 137 - 140 in my version of the manual.
Whew!
Myles
The CS (Control Sliders) of the Motif ES are principally for controlling the Motif ES. If you would like to send meaningful information OUT to external devices you must do so in the proper mode.
In Voice mode the CS control the volume of the individual Elements that make up a VOICE via System Exclusive (messages only understood by the Motif ES)
In Performance mode the CS control the volume of the individual Parts that make up the PERFORMANCE via System Exclusive (messages only understood by the Motif ES).
In MASTER mode the CS and the Knob will be able to be assigned for use to control external devices - if you wish.
Master mode is your key to setting up the Motif ES with external devices on whatever channels you desire.
