Been struggling to match a voice I added to part 1 in a performance. The missing piece is a CHORUS System Effect - Tempo Cross Delay. I tried and tried but can't seem to add it to my Performance Part. I had no trouble adding/matching REVERB System Effect, but no CHORUS ????? I tried a COPY JOB Chorus & Reverb, but only hear REVERB... What's my problem?

Performance

• Press [PERFORM] to return to the main screen
• Press [F2] VOICE
• Highlight the Voice
• Press [Category Search] or use your favorite method to select the Voice you want to work with.
-Press [JOB]
-Press [F3] COPY

• Set the screen as shown above. Marking both the Reverb and Chorus — the above show Part 1 as the Part in question
• Press ENTER/YES to execute

This will Copy the REVERB and CHORUS setting from the VOICE in PART 1 to the current location. Take note that when you copy the Reverb and Chorus to the current Performance, all the Parts will now use these effects as they become the SYSTEM Effects for the entire Performance.

Of course, you can now control the SEND amount from each PART on the Motif ES Mixer. Do not assume the Send amount, you must set the SEND for each Part to the Chorus processor...you will not hear the Chorus without setting the EFF SEND amount.

• Store the Performance.

I thought I set Chorus Send up to 3 o'clock per the attached screenshot. This was the same place and setting I found for this chorus effect in Voice Mode. None of the chorus setting made from this screen make any effect on the sound when in performance mode. Chorus just doesn't seem active or connected. Reverb, on the other hand, works - all changes there for types, sends, all work. What am I missing / doing wrong?

Wrong screen... the screen shot you show is on the upper (shared) Common level. And has to do with the overall Send to the Effects
You want to go to the individual Part Send amounts.. each Part has its own Send amount. One to the Reverb another to the Chorus.

Press [EDIT]
Press [1] to view Part parameters
Press [F2] OUTPUT
Press [SF2] EF SEND
Here you can see the Send level amount for each Part to the Reverb, to the Chorus, and the amount of Dry Level.

Got It.... WOW, that simple, thanks for setting me straight - getting me into the individual parts. So the JOB copy does NOT set SEND levels? In other words, when I start / initialize a new performance all system sends are set to 0? Then, when I use copy job to bring in system effects associated with a voice patch, my individual still sends remain (start) at 0?

Naturally. You copied the Effect Type. You must think of the Send to that Effect as a separate thing. These are System Effects — means each Part of your Performance will be able to Send some signal to that Effect. Naturally, they must now be set. You did not copy the Send into this Effect, you copied specifically the Effect Type. Where you are copying it from, there are no Part Send amounts for Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4.... you want to determine ‘how much’ of each gets sent to the System Effects.

In a case where Part 1 is an Electric Piano and Part 2 is an Electric Bass split, you might have a Flanger you want on the Electric Piano, but not on the Bass. This is accomplished by using the Send amount for each Part.
