OH DEAR GOD TELL ME SOMEONE HAS THE ANSWER!!! 🙂

I have a Motif 8 dinosaur that has been babied its entire existence. I guess it was about 2 years ago, I brought it back out of storage, removed it from its tenderly packaged encasing and proceeded to get ready to jam out. I turn it on, and although it powers up, there is nothing on the screen! It lights up, but no words or display, and most importantly, NO SOUND. *gasp*

Fast forward to about a month ago, I FINALLY found someone semi locally that would actually look at this behemoth, and after dropping it off and waiting a while, I hear that the main board is bad. *gasp #2*. "Thousands of dollars" was what was told to me. Still, again, having a board that is otherwise in impeccable condition, I bade him to trudge on with the repair. Fast forward a week and I get a call stating that "that board is discontinued. Yamaha won't send me a replacement." *gasp #3*. It seems the universe just doesn't want me to have a working synth! Ugh.

SO, in a last ditch effort to salvage my precious board, I begin to scour the internet for a replacement board myself, which brings me across this forum. I IMMEDIATELY sign up and scribe this long diatribe, BEGGING for any assistance any of you, what I assume to be masters and synth wizards, may have. In particular:

- does anyone have or know the SKU or part # for the main board for a Motif8 synth? I keep finding boards for XF, XS, ES, etc, and I was told that it HAS to be the Motif8 board, not any of the other models. (While very good with computers, I am an entire ignoramus about keyboards)

- does anyone have or know of someone that DOES have the board I am seeking?

I'm at my wits end. I don't want to trash a PERFECTLY fine board because I can't just find a replacement part for it. It would break my damn heart to basically throw this thing out because right now its just a fancy ass box.

I'm imploring ANYONE to help me, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!

I anxiously await a response.

Thanks in advance,

M@

if the gear stay turned off for to long the electrolytic caps go bad ...so when you turn the gear on after a few years ..bang!

You need to keep track of how much it's going to cost to repair the keyboard and compare it to buying a used ES or XS of XF. It may be less money to simply upgrade. I bought a fairly new XF6 a year or two ago for far less than I expected.
