HI there,

I'am a bit new at saving and using files with my Motif and I need some advice.

I have a Motif ES8 at the studio and a Motif 7 at home. I wanted to built some songs files at home and bring it to the studio. Using a 3.3 Card, I did saved some songs at home, but it seems that the Motif ES don't see it!!!
The sad thing is, that a especially bought the Motif 7 to do so.
I also have the MOXF8, but couldn't figure it out.

Please help me out with this.

TKS

The Motif, the Motif ES and the MOXF are three different instruments and while you can easily move Midi files between them, the sounds (Voices) that you used are going to be different in each instrument.

Moving the data recorded to the MIDI tracks of the Sequencer of any of these products can be moved to almost any other product with a MIDI Sequencer. Simply SAVE the data as a Standard MIDI File (SMF) which creates a .mid File.

That’s the good news; but this only includes the Midi data recorded to the tracks of the Sequencer, it does not include which instrument you used for each Part in the MIXING setup. So although you will have the performance of the music, you will not have the choice of instruments for each track.

The selection of instruments differs in each product. You will need to recreate the Mix in each product.

Moving a “Song” from one Motif ES to another Motif ES is supported, because a Motif ES “SONG” includes both the Mixing setup plus the Midi data on the Track.

While a MOXF “Song” can be loaded to any other MOXF because the Voices will be the same; but you cannot Load it to another Model instrument (the instrument selection is different)

With the .mid File you can load the notes that you played, the controllers that you moved... but you will need to select new instruments.

Tks a lot,

I will try with midi file then, and I guess I will try attributing instruments on my Motif ES.

I guess I will need to get my head at work.
