Question about integrated sampling on the Motif ES. I sampled a few guitar strums to patch into the sequencer in pattern mode. When I later changed the tempo of this pattern, the sample phrases fell out of timing with the beat and the rest of my normal phrases. Is this normal? I am still figuring out my workflow to add short looping samples to my mixes (particularly guitar strums, finger snaps, etc...). I am thinking that these kind of samples, usually between 1-4 measures, once inserted into my pattern act just like audio, I can't stretch or compress. If I want flexibility to change my tempo later, that's probably a whole different kind of sampling maybe slice + seq vs sample + note. CORRECT??

Is this normal?

Yes.

CORRECT??

Yes, you are correct.

In order to time stretch an audio clip you do so by executing Slice+Seq. Which when executed successfully will let you adjust tempo without adverse results. It breaks your audio clip into time slices which act like a series of still photos that when flipped recreate Motion. Like a cartoon is a series of drawings that when flipped rapidly for the eye can create motion of the characters, your time slices can be adjusted in tempo without the normal change in pitch.
