Hi there to all!
I' newbi here as well as new owner of Yamaha CP33!
Due to fact that I my main keyboard is Kronos, and whole giging set up is based on kronos, my Yamaha CP33 stage piano is used just as midi controler for playing piano (but Kronos piano).
Midi channel that I use for Yamaha is midi channel no.2.
When I put omni mode on the yamaha, all sound that I play on the kronos I can play on the yamaha and they sound equal (by the quality etc), but when I open midi channel No. 2 just to send kronos piano to play with CP33 the sound that I get is horrible, it is not good at all as it is on the Kronos.
So, my question is, is it possible that yamaha has so bad filters that affects so bad on the kronos piano or I did something wrong with midi hooking up?
I forgot to mention that when I do the same thing with novation impulse controler instead yamaha, everything went as it should be....the piano sound then is the same as it on kronos....
Sorry for long thread but I'm really in panic due the fact that I bought Yamaha just to have good piano midi controler and now I cannot set it up wright!
p.s. I did already factory reset on the Cp33 when I bought it!

Stop blaming your gear for your inability to configure your system.
Connect a single MIDI Cable from the CP33 MIDI Out to MIDI In on the Kronos. This will allow you to physically play the keys of the CP33 and trigger the Kronos as your sound engine. Connect the audio outputs of the Kronos to your sound system. No need to connect the audio outputs of the CP33 since you are using it for MIDI Only!
If you are, as you say, using "my Yamaha CP33 stage piano is used just as midi controler for playing piano (but Kronos piano)." Then the CP33 has nothing to do with the "horrible sound", It is not even connected to your sound system. I'm afraid all the horrible sound is coming from the device being controlled ...not the MIDI controller. "MIDI controller" means you are not using the CP33 for sound.
MIDI Factoid: It is a well known fact that MIDI, in its entire 35 year history, has never made a sound. Not one sound has ever traveled via a MIDI cable to a speaker, that is NOT how it works. At all.
You can set Local Control = OFF on the CP33, because you only want your Key presses to trigger the Kronos

OMNI Mode? You obviously have no idea why you used Omni Mode... this allows the device to receive on any and all channels (the CP33 is receiving nothing, nothing is connected to the MIDI In of the CP33. So setting it to receive Omni, is completely meaningless in accomplishing what you want to do. You have stated the CP33 is just a controller (which means Transmit Only!)
Channels are always open. If select MIDI Out = Channel 2 on the CP33, and you have the CP33 MIDI I/O = MIDI, this will trigger the device connected via MIDI on channel 2 specifically. Whatever program(s) you set to Receive on MIDI channel 2 will respond.
Doing a factory reset does not set your CP33 up as you need, you will need to do that yourself!
Checklist for success based on your post request:
Connect only the Kronos to your sound system with appropriate signal cables
Connect the MIDI Out of the CP33 to the MIDI In of Kronos
Set CP33 to MIDI I/O = MIDI
Set Local Control = Off
Select the MIDI channel you want to transmit
Set the Kronos to receive that MIDI channel
Suggestion: Use the CP33 for piano (forget MIDI). It's a better "piano" in my opinion.

So I manage to resolve the problem but spent whole night and now I read your thread above:) (thanks once again)!
Forgot to mention in tread above that I use kronos for about 2-3 years and everything on it is set due to midi connections (timbar ext etc).
Due the fact that I changed my second keyboard (yesterday - Yamaha s90es to CP33) everything should be almost the same with it. All I need to do is open midi channel on yamaha and that's it.
But in this case it wasn't....
At the end I set yamaha in a way to turned off all yamaha rom sounds and memorize it as one of the user... in this case when I want to use Yamaha as a midi controler I just call up user on the yamaha and that is all.
Furthermore, when I want to play rom sound from yamaha I just hit the other memorized user combination where the all connection from Kronos-Yamaha are stopped and I use cp33 sound (which are great). In that way I can play separately sounds just on the yamaha.
The third combination that I will try to set it up today will be layering sounds from yamaha and kronos....
Just to mention that cp33 in start was not simple (but I read manual at the end:) like s90es due to editing (midi etc)...it has no big screen so everthing is limited for a newbi...
At the end I just want to thank you once again for helping me out, and want to apologize for my bad english.
