I know you can record audio from the modx into FL Studio but is it possible to record audio from FL Studio into the modx?
I was just curious.

No. Not Audio like a song.

But there's various ways to bring samples in.

The very best way is Sample Robot, which records as many as you stipulate of notes from any source you stipulate, and then maps them out as "waveform" for an Element in an AWM2 Part.

You can do this somewhat manually, and use a drum part to bring in samples of your own liking, but it's fiddly, and there's not a lot of memory to play with if you've got a few sound sets already loaded into your keyboard.

Darren,
You can record from your DAW (FL Studio) to the MODX as follows:

Tracks that are triggering the MODX Tone Generator (via MIDI) can be recorded to the MODX’s Audio Performance Recorder, as audio. The audio is written directly as a stereo linear .Wav file to a USB stick. It can be linked to any MODX Performance through a “Live Set” slot. This will allow you playback as audio, any data that was using the MODX Tone Generator. You can play along with whatever MODX Performance setup you like.

Tracks in your DAW that are triggering other devices, VSTi, and any other audio tracks recorded to your DAW can be “returned” to the MODX acting as Audio Interface… set the Stereo Out in your DAW to return audio via the MODX’s “Digital In” — this returns audio to the MODX “Digital In L/R” where it joins the data set to travel through its own Channel (that has both Reverb and Variation Sends) before being merged with the Main L/R — which can be recorded to a USB stick as a stereo Wav file. This Audio can be linked to a MODX Performance through the active “Live Set”. Once you have recorded the data to the USB stick, choose a Performance containing the sounds you’d like to play along with… go to “Play/Rec” of that Performance and then recall your Audio Wav… press [SHIFT] + [LIVE SET] — this will link the Audio playback, the selected Performance and place them as a recallable set when you select this “Live Set” slot.

If you in your DAW you have both MIDI data to play the MODX Tone Generator and you have additional DAW Audio Tracks, VSTi, etc… just send them all to the MODX ‘Digital In L/R” (you do so by setting the Outputs in your DAW to the appropriate setting)… they will be documented directly to the USB drive. Additionally, you could plug in a microphone and simultaneously record a microphone or another “live” synth through the A/D In. All inputs will be recorded to the Stereo .Wav written directly to the USB stick.

Extra Credit:
From the Performance HOME screen, tap MIXING… here you can see a view of the MODX internal mixer. There are two views, one that shows Parts 1-8 plus the Audio In (AD and Digital).
Press [EDIT] > “Common” > tap “Audio In” > “Mixing” — here you can setup both Analog and Digital Inputs.

You can record a maximum of 74 minutes continuously per musical composition to a USB stick (provided there is room on that drive)… approx. 10MB per stereo minute.

While SampleRobot does allow you make musical instrument samples, it would not necessarily be your first choice for recording linear Song data from a DAW. It is designed for making musical instrument sounds mapped to keys. Likely you would want to record the linear composition as played by your DAW (FL Studio).

Once you record your DAW data to the Audio portion of the MODX’s Performance Recorder using the method where you set the “Trigger Level” to start recording, you will wind up with a Stereo .Wav file that can be either played back by the Performance Recorder, or you can LOAD the resulting .Wav as a New Waveform* — the maximum waveform length for this method is 6 minutes and 20 seconds. Audio clips of this length or less can be triggered from a Drum Kit KEY by simply Loading the wave to a Drum Kit targeting a specific KEY.
